People hate it when their kicker misses a kick, but yet want to make them miss more kicks.

I don’t get it.

When do NFL kickers start demanding $15-$20 mil/year deals for their points scored?

NFL hash marks are closer together to open up both sides of the field for the offense.

It was basically the OG legislation to give offenses more of an advantage. The number of touchdowns wasn't up to the NFL's liking 50+ years ago, so they of course had to get involved.

I want other people's kickers to miss more field goals

1) put a crossbar across the top (you have to put it in the rectangle)

This should happen - would make the short kicks a bit harder. Requires touch, not just brute leg strength.

Maybe divide the goalposts even further - kicks down the middle score more than those that are barely inside the crossbar. Could do this with a partitioned net.

Need to adjust the rules to allow for defenders to stack up, similar to this volleyball gag video

For anyone that hasn't seen it, the full video

Make 60+ yarders 4 points instead of 3.

Instead of the defense lining up to block it, they could control drones and try to knock the ball out of the air like a real life rocket league game

Making a field goal “harder” will also give us more 4th down attempts if the offenses are between the 30 and 45 yd line.

Put another set of posts with a much smaller width and make that worth 4 points if it's behind 50 yards. The old width is still 3.

Yes the kicker is making a more difficult kick but you are rewarding the offense for being less effective overall.

So under 40= 3 pts
Over 40=2 points

This way if you need three points to tie at the end of the game your offense can’t rest once it gets to the opponents 40. You got to get the extra yards to get the most points. Could also force teams to consider going for it more frequently when further from goal.

This is the way. Make long field goals worth less, force offenses to actually move the ball and be rewarded for doing so

Raise the cross bar to 15 feet and add an upper bar at 25 feet. Got to hit it in the box.
10 feet high and 17 feet wide
Make it four points

Morten Andersen, perhaps the greatest kicker of all time and an NFL HOFer was a career 79.7% kicker

Blake Grupe was 81% last year and fans wanted him kicked to the curb, and he was in a training camp battle with a rookie

BUMP- did y’all hear what they just said on Monday night football?

32 made FGs from 56+ yards so far this year.

20 years ago, in 2004, ZERO FGs of 56+ yds were made.

It’s time to squeeze the posts in. Maybe raise the lower cross bar in as well.

Also, do you think that the increase in popularity of soccer for kids in the last 30 years has helped develop these kickers?

I think there’s a direct correlation with how great kickers are today and the fact that all of these kickers probably started playing soccer when they were toddlers.

I know there’s a lot of rules on how the defense can line up and what they can and cannot do. Was it always like that on FGs and PATs? Maybe bring back no defensive rules on lining up and jumping to block the kicks?

I honestly think that’s the first step to trying to fix it. I never understood the reason for changing it to begin with. Were there really that many injuries on field goal attempts to justify adjusting the entire way defenses could line up?
