Yeah...97 I was there. Rushed the field, tore down the goalposts and carried them out of the stadium. It was a magic night.

Gen Z and social media. They want their content.

This is such a dumb take. No one is rushing the field just because they want to take a selfie. They are rushing the field because they are having fun, and they want to be a part of it.

I doubt the grown men who rushed the field did it for photos. In twenty years, they won't have the "content" but they will remember rushing the field.

There is a picture with Nuss with the fans living his absolute best life. The players loved it. I recall Trey Quinn surfing after a game once.

It is more common now simply because it is more common now.

Anecdotally I grew up in BR and went to tons of LSU games in the 90’s and through my graduation in 2011, I don’t remember ever rushing the field. Maybe I just missed out

97 UF 2000 UT 2000 bama 2001 Auburn I think 2000 miss state and that’s just off the top of my head

Coach’s Poll has LSU 10 - Ole Miss #9 LSU is playing at home.

LSU has dominated the series and hasn’t lost to Ole Miss at home since 2008.

LSU storming the field was idiotic.

Funny I googled lsu fans storm the field to figure out one way or the other about 2000 msu (see my above post)

Here’s a pic from 1981 where lsu beat FSU

Because we were a) a good team and b) never beat a top 5 team when we weren’t also Top 5.

Bama 2010 would have maybe been the only opportunity, but they were already not going to the BCSCG

The Kick Six I think is the genesis of all this. That field storming made sense of course, but it was a viral moment, and what is mostly Gen Z college students now are just trying to have the same experience by hook or by crook.

LSU fans should not do it, especially against Ole Miss.. Not ever.
Idiots have done it twice against them. Shouldn't have done it either time.

ETA:
It's definitely more prevalent. In the past, getting to the frat party after the game was everyone's 1st thought, but I hear they've taken a lot of the fun out of being a student these days.

That lsu game was not worthy of rushing the field but I don’t really care, let the fans have their fun. It cut down on traffic a little so I’m cool with it

It's way more common and just the way it is.

And I love how much it pisses of the old farts who still think it should only be reserved for some low level program who finally gets a big win

The times have definitely changed in regards to storming the field

At least Ohio State has won something before and been to 5 playoffs since 2014. Ole Miss on the other hand, has not won anything and LSU won't stop storming the field for them

I was an LSU student sitting in the student section for that one. I consider that the high point of my time in the student section. The night it rained oranges.

People stormed the field that night but not on a large scale. I remember security hauling off people who were trying to tear the goalposts down.

I may be a little dot in that picture but I think I stayed in the stands for that one.

Comes and goes depending on the era. LSU rushed the field after beating Miss St. Saban’s first year. Let kids have fun.

Vandy was legit. LSU storming the field everytime it beats Ole Piss is embarrassing.
