In old people. It has nothing to do with hand eye coordination or bat speed

Agreed Bonds was great no doubt, but in their non-roid primes, was he really better than Griffey?

Well we could make arguements for tons of people if we start discounting half of their careers

Only way to compare apples to apples with those two.

Career .945 OPS. Not too shabby and in the dead ball era.

Why? I'm sure we could go back and find a guy that got called up for 2 games and went 2 for 3 and is technically the career batting average leader depending how far we go into this

Gwynn could arguably be the greatest contact hitter, I would probably go with Cobb but the argument could be made.. His greatest asset being contact ability was also a weak point in not taking enough pitches.. He didn't take enough walks and just freaking hit everything, even bad pitches..

Bonds was never as good as Griffey until late in his career when it was clear he was better at roiding than any other player.

Ted Williams is the greatest pure hitter of all time.

The only comparable is Ted Williams, IMO, but if I had to have a guy put a bat on the ball to win the game, it would no doubt be Gwynn.
You're crazy. Both are Top 10, but Williams could hit for average and power like few others. Feller was throwing high 90s back then, but speed is really meaningless. Hitting against those raised mounds was even harder.
