I just dont like judging things with the benefit of almost a decade of hindsight

The clippers made a move EVERYONE would have made at the time. It didnt work out. It happens

The Mavs trade like you said is in a completely different category where everyone went.....what

I don’t think anyone is arguing the Clippers trade was good

If you are the clippers in 2019, and you are presented with acquiring both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, do you say yes or no?

These things should only be judged in hindsight.

The owners that fired Nico H signed off on these decisions to jettison their most lucrative asset and now act surprised that their team sucks as they rebuild around a guy who should be a freshman in college right now.

These people are complete idiots if they didn’t see this coming.

I do think it was a bad trade, but only in that they didn’t get enough draft capital in return. Luka wasn’t going to win shite in Dallas.

This and NOLA trading an unprotected first for Derek Queen are 2 of the worst trades I recently remember in the Men’s NBA.

and that is why literally everyone at the time was critical of it

Which is the whole point

Meh. Everyone would have done the clippers trade at the time it was made and talking shite about it is pure hindsight

So what actually happens with the trade doesn't matter? Then no trade mentioned in this thread would matter

They had a good run and caught OKC on their rise with a ton of youth—that Thunder squad was the youngest team in league history to win a playoff series, loaded with inexperience. That Mavs team would have been smoked by OKC in playoffs last season. Their finals performance was telling—average loss by 12pts, Luka shot under 25% from 3, and looked outclassed and abused on D.

I’ve been to a ton of Mavs games, I live there. Guy was lazy AF on D, would whine to refs about a no call while the other team was racing to a 4 on 5. He was also fat and out of shape a lot. Embarrassingly so. He just doesn’t throw off alpha killer vibes like the tier 1a championship contenders like SGA does. Thats just my opinion watching him several times

You don't like judging a trade based on how a trade works out. You realize how dumb that is right? And it's not almost a decade ago, stop. And the trade isn't even finished, they are still benefiting from the trade and have Clippers pics left. This isn't a decade old trade like you're making it out to be.

Not the worst trade in history but the most recent worst trade is Joe Dumars giving up an unprotected 1st for Derrick Queen

As a Mavericks fan, I thought I would feel different today, but nothing changed

It’s like finally executing the guy that killed your kid

It doesn’t really make you feel any better

On paper, yes Dallas’ trade of Luca is terrible. In reality, he didn’t want to be in Dallas and he was always out of shape and then he is traded to LA and he is in the best shape of his life. So, so that makes it look worse. Also, on paper we will never see the NBA’s role in getting Dallas the No 1 pick in exchange for getting a star to LA.

Pelicans trade of an unprotected first in a great draft for Queen is the dumbest trade I can remember for a rebuilding franchise.

The NBA wanting the Lakers to be a premier team so bad makes me hate the NBA. Let them earn it or not at all.
