OSU was playing the best out of any team in the country the last weekend. If we are really looking for the best team, they should have been in.

Those are not the only 2 southern teams playing in bowl games, I was speaking in general. In fact I wasn't rooting for Bama or Clemson, I'm actually tired of seeing the same 2 teams play.

And you're right it is those 2 and everyone else... that includes all the teams from up north.

Penn St is recruiting at a very high level. Let's see if Franklin can develop that talent. ND and UM are solid, nothing spectacular. And then of course, there's OSU. I'm really interested to see how they do without Meyer, arguably the best recruiter of this generation.

+1 this guy gets it

No he doesn’t, he’s just trolling or blinded by his own anti south or SEC bias. Now for this season and a couple of recent ones that’s true that Alabama and Clemson have separated themselves but the dominance of southern teams is now a 20 year trend. In 97 Michigan and Nebraska split the NC, since then the only northern team to win is Ohio St in 02 and 14. Aside from Alabama and Clemson 9 other teams from warmer/southern climates have won the title

Northern teams besides OSU just don’t have the overall speed that southern teams do. Not to say they can’t win some games head to head sometimes but not consistently . Was watching the Purdue-AU game and two Purdue Dbs had angles on a AU wr and he just boatraced them. Defensive line and linebacker speed is non existent also

They have a long term problem in the sense that the top 3 recruiting hotbeds are each several hundred miles away.

OH and PA are #5 and #7 in producing NFL talent, but even added together they don’t produce as much as #3 Texas. There are however several other solid-producing states within the B10 footprint- NJ, MI, IL all produce as much or more than AL, TN, MS.

Btw- who knew Rutgers was such a sleeping giant?
Or- what if USC started keeping all that CA talent to themselves again

USC is still recruiting at a very high level. Problem is that idiot we have as head coach.

How many cold weather games do these teams actually play in? There might be one per year for each team that might have some type of snow.

Unless an extreme amount snow comes down during the game it is not an issue. What is an issue is temps just above freezing with a cold rain or sleet and heavy winds. That does happen quite often once late October hits. This weather is part of the reason that northern teams were built so differently in the past and seemed slow.

Isn't LSU 0-3 against the last three "northern/cold weather" teams they have faced - Wisconsin, Notre Dame (twice)?

Ohio State recruits nationally in addition to having great talent in-state. The rest of the B1G not so much.

This. Ohio State has been doing very well in Texas lately. Also, take a glance at Notre Dame's roster. I bet they have just as many players from California, Georgia, Florida, Texas and such as the Midwest.

Not this year, USC is 22 overall, 4th in the PAC 12 and 2nd among schools with the initials USC
