Do they still get another free loss to Miami and close out the year beating no one? What if byu has a couple losses and are on the fridge of the playoff with 2 loss Irish?

If ND loses to Miami I hope the CFP committee puts them at 13 just purely out of principle. Even if you have to put some 4 loss teams ahead of them that played more than a 2 game schedule

Eh, I’m as down as I have been on ND football recently, but Wisconsin and SMU winning helps ND a lot. There’s a decent chance we’ll end up with 2 top 20 wins (assuming we beat SMU) at the end of the year even if we lose to Miami.

We’ll see - I won’t bitch if we get left out with a Miami loss, but I won’t be particularly happy. We had a first round caliber safety out, a first round caliber D end (with the targeting second play of the game) out, and a top 60 pick caliber safety really banged up and playing nothing like himself for the BYU game. Carr played horribly. That’s college football. So it goes.

You act like these don’t go both ways. Face facts. You have an absolute garbage DC that no one would want, an OC that’s lost his fastball, and a HC that’s too passive and detached from his coordinators to hold them accountable.

They still play Miami and a ranked SMU. If they win out, no choice but to have them in the playoffs. If they lose to Miami, it depends on everyone else.

2 top 20 wins

Yeah that shouldn't sniff the playoffs.

Good to know LSU’s loss to UK doesn’t count. You know, because injuries.

SMU will probably be ranked #8 or something if they only have 1 loss going into the ND game. The committee will rank SMU high because it’s Notre Dame that’s involved.

Win out and ND will have a top 5/10 win and two more top 20 wins. That’s a solid resume.

It’s clear BYU won their Super Bowl last week. If they play again, ND wins 8/10 times. ND played like arse and were a couple of blown calls away from winning it still.

It’s a lot like LSU and Ole Miss. Ole Miss staked their entire program on that game and barely squeaked out a win. I would be hard pressed to find someone who would say they would bet substantial money on Ole Miss in a rematch though.

One is BYU and one is a team with a player that many assumed would be the best Qb in the nation

And once it goes to 24 teams, the team plane would have to crash and burn for ND not to make the playoffs

You act like BYU played a flawless game. The ran that stupid fake punt, fumbled a punt, and had another INT. They, equally, let Notre Dame tang around.

All year, I’ve heard about Notre Dame’s rushing defense and how good they are. BYU just rattled off 120 yards without their best player / starting RB. Notre Dame’s defensive line generated virtually no pressure on Bear whatsoever. Their star CB and S looked like they were playing two hand touch. Carr couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. And their offense consists of like 5 total plays. How many incomplete slot fades can one team run? I said it once, and the dummies didn’t listen, how on earth do you expect to be better offensively when you lose your two first rd RBs and your best WR?

If they beat Miami and win the rest of their regular season games, all will chalk BYU up to one bad game - BYU’s Super Bowl - and that’s fair. We’ll see. We’ll know more in 2 weeks. But the way Bear, Kasper, Rex, Gasker looked with LJ Martin out …. (Because, you know, other teams do have injuries too, Notre Dame ……) I think Miami dog walks them. I bet they score at least 5 touchdowns on that overrated defense and overrated secondary.

If Ash calls a baby shite soft defense again Toney will have 250 receiving yards. The game plan against BYU was atrocious and Mensah is worlds better than Bear. Before that game I would say no way Miami was capable of winning by double digits, but after seeing the defense shite the bed, it’s completely possible.
