What exactly do you agree with? That players should have no ability to move teams on their own?
Teams have up to 8 years of control over their drafted players, that's more than enough.

Leonard drives like an '07 Tahoe. He doesn't care about money.

IMO no, part of the fun of professional sports is the offseason and trades and tracking free agency occurrences. What fun would pro sports be if we always knew who was gonna be on which team every single year? Offseasons would be boring as hell.

with Kawhi being the first to forgo this, it appears that the Supermax might not be enough to keep their generational talent home.
Sometimes winning is more important than money in sports but IMO this is a STUPID business decision on Kawhi's part, especially considering no state income tax in Texas compared to what he'd be taxed somewhere else. Is what it is.

What’s weird is Kawhi seems really shy and has the personality of a fish and he wants to go where the lights are the brightest?

They need to put a hard salary cap
Agreed.
The luxury tax bs is purely to allow a championship team to stay together

I didn’t even know about Leonard until 2014
SDSU was ranked in the top 5 for a lot of his last season there

New York may be the largest market and they have been really bad for a long time.
Dallas is the 4th largest market and won a title and played for another since 2006. Why aren't they a destination and they have no state tax?

They’re bad and good players don’t want to play on bad teams

People in this thread are neglecting the fact he is from California. The same thing with Paul George.
They may just want to move back to where they are from.
This is a big reason the Warriors are in a such good situation with Klay Thompson. He is from Californian and has lived his whole life on the wesf coast so that is another reason he is thinking about taking the pay cut. I think he is too good to take a backseat for those reasons, but he is.

And this is exactly what I'd say if I were a Lakers fan.
It's not basketball, it's l.a , come on l.a... who can resist l.a.?
Basketball is second when you're in a Lakers uniform. You can literally walk to a movie set or music studio from staples in between practices... what an experience.

your point? yes. the lakers arent very good at this point in time

I legit don't know if I've ever heard Kawhi talk.

Dallas isn't sexy at all
Dallas isn't a place you can sell on the city alone, like LA, NYC, Miami, etc. We need to have some talent already here to bring more in.
I think, especially if we manage to acquire Chandler Parsons and Memphis' 4th pick in this draft, that Dallas could be the next 'up and comer' in 3-4 years.

Even New York hasn’t been able to do it lately. You either need existing talent or extreme cap flexibility to bring in multiple stars like LA has

LA did it perfectly when they canned their previous FO and hit reset.
After Deng's and mozgov's contracts, they decided to build through the draft and went all in for this summer.

I don’t buy that the market you play in has a huge impact on your endorsement money
Didn't you hear? Glendale Hyundai is offering a 31 million dollar commercial deal to get players to come to play for the Lakers.
