We should laugh at Sacramento and Phoenix as well.

hot takes have started early. curious to see if he closes out the clippers as that series is wide open for the taking

If he does... maybe more impressive than Dirk vs 2011 heatles. I was expecting a sweep

I didn’t say he’s the best in the nba but he’s playing extremely well and is going to get better over the next 5 years which is scary

THe sample size is this series.

Luka plays the vast majority of relevant minutes in close playoff games. So the sample size is tiny. It is often biased. Doncic's minutes predictably mirror Kawhi's, as most starters/stars do. Play 1st/3rd, sit for a few minutes whilst both teams scrubs play the beginning of 2nd/4th.

So when Doncic is on the bench, that means Kawhi/PG/Zubac probably are too, and the horrible defenders of Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell probably on the court defending the non-Doncic Mavs, inflating their stats.

If Kawhi/PG played with Doncic on bench resting and Doncic played with Kawhi/PG on bench, it would be a bloodbath both ways. RPM was invented to control for this and give a glimpse of actual +/- vs what you would expect based on other 9 players on court. Doncic is elite in RPM. The only elite Mav.

If everyone is healthy, it’s in this order

AD
Kawhi
Luka
Lebron
KD

Injuries have robbed us of how great AD really is.

no. he will be in 2 years or so though. he only lacks the experience that will make him the best.

No.

He is the player I'd build a franchise with though. Young and will continue to improve.

Giannis averaged 30/14/6. Luka is definitely closing the gap insanely quick though.

And let's not forget Giannis is probably going to win DPOY

Luka is Harden without all the flopping and pandering to refs.

Luka is not a flopper, but he is one of the biggest complainers to the refs in the league.

That's the real kicker. He's already a killer, and he hasn't even come into his own yet.

My God...

it is. Luka is very great but he still is not even a good 3 point shooter and his free throws are avg.. he's also an avg defender.

If Luka is not even good at free throws and 3s then how far down does that make Giannis?

Ayton is really good. he was better than Doncic most of last year. his suspension fricked him this year (his fault, admittedly) but when he came back he was great and the suns were good. after some time to gel the suns were amazing

his range is extending to the 3 and his defense took a huge step this year

he's likely not going to keep up pace with Doncic but that doesn't mean the Suns made a bad pick. a rim-protecting, 3-shooting big who can score 20+ a game isn't exactly a common commodity

The Ayton and Young picks were understandable at the time, anyone saying that made a mistake back then now is a try hard.

Now the Bayley and even the JJJ pick were considered bad picks.

Still one of my more favorite gifs in recent memory.

And with seemingly every player in the league disgruntled with their situation, Luka is the "I'm just happy to be playing ball" player the NBA needs.

I'm not gonna say he's the best. But he is top 5, without a doubt.
