Sachin Tendulkar has a following of more than a billion fans across 10 countries. Beat that.

He is the best cricket batsman ever to have played the game. He is in his 23rd year of playing international cricket. He is 39 years old now. Started playing when he was 16 years old in 1989.

When you think of Sachin think of Brett Faves's longevity combined with Peyton Manning's prolificity.

Messi... no doubt about it. He broke the record for most goals in a year. And he gets to tap this

The very fact that soccertards don't even know who their most popular player is should tell you how stupid they are as a group.

It's Messi... I thought we established this?

"Tiger’s awareness score is 98.8 to LeBron’s 57.27.

Woods’ awareness level is exceeded by only six people in Repucom’s Celebrity DBI database of 2,925 people. The more famous include three presidents (Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama); two dead music icons (Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson); and Oprah Winfrey."

Just saw an article that reminded me of this thread. Tiger is the most recognizable athlete in the US. Even more than Jordan. Blows Lebron out of the water in terms of awareness.

Still too many regions of the world that don't really care about basketball for it to be LeBron. But in the U.S., for sure.

In the world it is definitely Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the US, Lebron is definitely the biggest IMO.

This...

Jordan still rules in space

I would bet anything Jordan is still more recognizable, no matter what that stupid study says.

Definitely Messi. I went to Camp Nou in Barcelona a few weeks back and it is unbelievable how many people from all over the world travel to that stadium and gawk over the monuments they have built for him. It was insane.

Is this about most liked or most known? Or most "followed"?

I know of guys like Messi and Kaka and such, but I don't follow or like them.
