Saw something earlier that pointed out Lane and his good buddy O have both been head coaches at USC, Ole Miss, and LSU now

Hes on his hero's journey. This is hopefully the end of Act II and the beginning of Act III

I love him and hes been my fav college coach since he landed at OM. Im beyond excited for this era of LSU football. Ive never been an LSU superfan before (I was always Saints first despite graduating from LSU) but Im about to become one.

All my heroes are very flawed. I love the redemption arc so much - its why Ive been such a fanboy for Trump.

This is the sequel to his Hero's Journey. That redemption was at Ole Miss, where the culmination of him getting his shite together led to a sort of reclamation project with Layla, even. His son was the QB of the local high school. He got a shitty stepping stone program into the playoffs (After failing in their "all in" year).

...then he turned heel again

People forget how hilarious the Kiffin/O/Monte tenure was in TN.

I'm sure Monte sat in many hotel corner chairs during that brief stint

Monte and Coach O lived at the Raddison across the street from USC which is also student housing (or at least used to be). Monte was shooting the shite with students and hotel guests on a regular basis.

A great guy by all accounts

that was a great read...

On a side note: did Al Davis really force Kiffin to draft JaMarcus Russell?

That entire article failed to mention anything about his brief stint at Tennessee.

The redemption arc after he wins a couple titles at LSU will be the real tear jerker.

You need to learn your history.

Both worked under Norm Chow in the Pete Carroll-era Trojans.
