Put him on the Yankees, Astros, Red Sox, or any other team that has a chance to make a deep playoff run; then reconsider your thoughts.

Dude fricks.

Someone post his career numbers so we can all see how fricking retarded these people hating him are.

Eta: his 162 game average is 33 home runs 90 rbis with a .278 batting average for his career. Nah the guys a fricking scrub.

he was the fricking MVP in 2015 and led the MLB in offensive and overall WAR, home runs, 3rd in BA, 1st in slugging%, and 1st in OPS. he missed 50 games last year but still managed 29 HRs, 87 RBIs, and hit .319

Why don't you tell me the tools you think he doesn't have and I'll laugh at your response.

Harper and Machado came up at the same time. They have played pretty much the same amount of games in their careers. Harper has been worth 28.7 fWAR, Machado 26.8 fWAR.

I don’t think he’s overrated but I knew you’d be the first reply

My whole point is that the data doesn’t support “Machado being in another class”. Even going by the Baseball Reference numbers, which favor Machado, we are still talking .5 WAR per year, which is pretty negligible.

I understand going all the way back to 2015 is exceptionally difficult...last season wasn't too shabby either.

He has always been billed as a 5-Tool player when he really only has 2, maybe 3 tools. He has always been lumped together with the very best players in the game but he is not in the same category as a Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, or Manny Machado.

Betts has been very consistent, but his peak has, thus far, been below Harper's 2015 season.

His OPS is still well above average, even though he's been relatively bad this year.

Gary Sanchez is up there. I can't believe MLB Network had him ranked as the 26th best player coming into the season.
