Wait......Iowa has wide receivers? Is Ferentz aware of this

They're actually just there to run block.

And yet they have a Green Bay Packers-esque wait for season tickets. One of the most loyal fanbases in college athletics

2016 Michigan at Rutgers box score

This was the most lopsided box score that I have ever seen. Somehow, it seemed like it could have and should have been worse than 78-0.

That was a fun game to watch

I forget what he said, but Chris Ash (Rutgers HC at the time) made some comments that pissed off Harbaugh prior to that game

Ferentz should hire Trequan Smith as his WR coach.

They could (probably won’t) finish 11-1. Their schedule is awful and they might be better than those teams. They avoid Michigan and tOSU.

It really is fascinating to watch a long time successful rock solid HC just completely toss away an entire side of the ball just so his son can be the coordinator. I thought Bobby and Jeff Bowden were bad back in 2001-2006 but damn

face it we are just better humans up north. Get off the welfare losers.

Look, I have family roots in Iowa and always pull for the Hawkeyes. But you have some stones telling ppl in the south to get off of welfare when most Iowa farms are only able to operate by sucking down government subsidies..

With that schedule, you (or I) could be QB and Iowa would win 10 games. Big 10, other than the Big 3, is horrible. Those bottom feeders sure don't get much bang for all that Big 10 money.

With Northwestern, Minnesota, Rutgers, Illinois and Nebraska still on the schedule.

Forget the stats, OU could have scored 100 that day

THe B1G West is an embarrassment this year.

We're not good but the clear favorite to win the division.

That's Prime-like in terms of changing the game...not putting anything on tape for the Badgers

He doesn't report to his dad to prevent potential claims of nepotism, because that's definitely not what this is

quote:

Iowa Interim Athletic Director Beth Goetz met with the media on Thursday, and she confirmed that Brian Ferentz now reports to her, and that that the amendments are still in his contract.

Goetz sort of danced around the topic when asked what would happen to Brian Ferentz should Iowa fail to average 25 points per game, and that’s understandable.

Exactly what Bobby did to circumvent Florida's nepotism laws. As much shite as FSU gets for not having big time boosters, they ran Jeff's arse out of Tallahassee in the middle of 2006 after a 30-0 loss to Wake Forest, with no shits what Bobby had to say. Does Iowa have that kind of influence? Genuinely curious

Iowa’s biggest and most influential boosters are all very old, and they remember Iowa before Hayden Fry. I cannot understate how awful Iowa was for almost 20 years before Hayden Fry came in and completely overhauled their program.

Iowa hired Hayden Fry in 1979. At that point Iowa had not had one single season over .500 since 1961, and only managed two season at .500 in that span. They had not played in a bowl game since winning the 1958 Rose Bowl

If you know anything about Hayden Fry and Iowa in the 80s, then you know what he means to the Iowa Hawkeyes program. Iowa hired Kirk Ferentz in 1999 to replace Hayden Fry as Fry’s hand picked successor, these are the only two head coaches that Iowa football has had since 1979.

Despite all the flack that Ferentz gets and as boring and inept as his teams can be on the offensive end, after his first two season in 99 and 00, Iowa has only ended two seasons under .500 under Kirk Ferentz.

Understanding all that helps you understand why Ferentz has such a long leash at Iowa, the boosters there remember the wilderness that Iowa was in before Fry and they’re scared to mess up the only formula they know to win. They would rather be average to mediocre most years, with a couple good ones mixed in every decade, than risk becoming worse.

Frankly I kind of get it.

What’s iowas celing?

Does anyone think year in year out they can compete with Michigan and Ohio state?

I don’t.

I see them as once every 5-6 years a senior laden team pulls off an upset or two and gets to 10-2 11-1.

In other words Kirk ferentz.
