There is like 2M in central AL.

A Minor League team could survive in New Orleans with the right sized stadium and location in the city
A minor league team with a 5000 seat stadium MIGHT make it on northshore

Includes minor league and independent league teams. No one in the cities with those even care. Map would have been interesting if it was only MLB.
AAA Columbus drew 531,000 people last year. Even more crazy in Ohio, A+ Dayton Dragons drew 529,000, over 8,000 a game. Their stadium only holds 7,250 plus 1,000 lawn seats

There are multiple teams in that area

McAllen at number 9 with 900k+ people is insane. I never realized how big population wise they were.
Alexa says their US population is 142k. Obviously more in the metro area but that number has to be taking into account Mexicans across the border.

There are several other towns in TX around McAllen that are big, like 75-125k I bet. Edinburg, Mission, Pharr, Weslaco. Also might be including Brownsville/Harlingen which is an hour or so away. If they were including Reynosa I think it would be a lot more than 900k.
RGV is probably the poorest non rural area in the country though

LSU baseball would chew up a minor league in BR.

Calgary and Edmonton will be part of the United States soon. That may give them a reason to dip their toes into MiLB.

Put it along I-12 in between Covington and Madisonville. Lots of growth around there plus you'd get folks coming in from Hammond and Livingston Parish.

too hot in the Deep South for games to be played in the summer.
Between the Texas League and the Southern League, there’s plenty of thriving teams in hot places.

We're going to the Charleston Riverdogs game tonight. It's bring your dog night and the breed of the day is dachshunds, so ours will be there in her Cubs jersey

I still think Tampa Bay should make a move to Orlando.
In addition to the Tampa Bay metro - also have Sarasota-Bradenton metro now at 910K and Lakeland-Winter Haven at 815K.
That is why the Tampa media market is the largest in Florida. It includes those additional metro populations.
They should be able to make baseball work with the right stadium placement.

I love me some minor league baseball. It’s one of the last frontiers of affordable family entertainment too.

I worked in Harlingen about 15 years ago. McAllen and the surrounding area was growing back then, but I would have never guessed they were closing in on a million people by now. That is pretty crazy.
