Same

But Romo reached that level for me. He has been annoying as hell in the booth. And I defended him early on, as not all that annoying.

I would agree that he has gotten noticeably worse over time.

I thought he sucked from day 1
This board was outraged and offended by that opinion

I still really like him in the booth.

I am certainly in the minority that I don't really care who is the color guy. It could be Kirk or Gruden or Romo or Brady or Olsen. Doesn't really matter that much to me when I'm watching a game honestly.

Although the Brady one bothers me because he isn't allowed to do his job to the full extent because he is partial owner of a team. The insanity that he legit can't do his job in full but they still pay him boggles my mind. But he is brought in for his knowledge of the game overall I guess and not the teams playing specifically

If CBS is smart, they'll make Greg Olsen a Godfather type offer and poach him from FOX and make him the #1 guy. I believe he has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave FOX.

He was good in his first few years. He either got neutered by cbs production for calling plays before they happened or stop caring with big contract or maybe both

I half wonder if someone at CBS was tipping off the cops in locations where they knew he'd be drinking and driving.

But, a criticism is that he doesn't let the game breathe. Sometimes it's better to shut up

This isn’t just a Romo problem. It’s the majority of American announcers. They feel like they have to fill every space of dead air by just talking. They need to watch English soccer announcers. They are great at just letting things play out instead of trying to talk over everything.

To be fair, a big cause of this is because of how little football action is actually played during a full game broadcast I believe the average amount of game action for an NFL game is 10-20 minutes of a 3 hour broadcast. While soccer the ball is live for closer to an hour for a 2 hour broadcast

Olsen is the best out there. I think the only knock against him is he was just kind of an average player so it brings down his credibility.

It adds to the moment for me if the commentator is really emotional vis just going through the motions.

Compare:

Michigan State blocked punt against Michigan (2015)

vs.

Derrick Henry's 99-yard TD run against the Jaguars (2018)

What?

Top 10 in yards and receptions all time as a TE
Only TE in NFL history with back to back to back 1000 yard seasons

He is not a HOFer but he's certainly not an average player
