I used to laugh at how NFLN would bring on the guys who weren't polished enough for the major networks like Deion, Sapp, and Irvin.

Romo will probably find employment, but I don't think it will be at $18 million. I wonder how long Prime is locked into Herbie. I don't really love him on there.

They are typically intentionally vague poison pills to give the companies the flexibility to get out of a contract if they want to. Often times it leads to a court battle and or a settlement. I believe Kansas used the morality clause to get out of their Les Miles buyout due to stuff popping up in reports about his time at LSU. So it’s more or less just a weapon that can be used at the discretion of the team / company when they want an eject button


It’s funny seeing the reaction to them in this case, a few on this board were losing their mind that the patriots weren’t firing Vrabel for the Russini stuff because of the morality clause which they could have, but clearly had no motive to want to do that given Vrabels standing with ownership and success in his first year. If they were happy with paying romo what they are, they never would touch that morality clause

His multi year Fox contract pays him $10M if he was on the #1 broadcast team, but it also includes 2 pertinent clauses.
1) His salary automatically was reduced to $3M if he was moved out of the top spot for any reason. That happened when they moved him to make way for Tom Brady

2) He can break the $3M contract if he left FOX to accept the lead analyst role for another NFL broadcaster.

He’s free to leave FOX for CBS to partner with Jim Nantz, and CBS doesn’t have to break the bank.
