About time. He’s making $18 million a year and he’s pretty bad so I imagine they’re happy this DUI stuff happened so that they could get out of that deal

He got worse every year. Kind of weird

JJ Watt has had Romo in his sights for a long time. Romo couldn’t avoid him forever.

I still really like him in the booth.
Maybe I'm in the minority.
But this is an out for them with his contract, I'm sure.

The predicting every play was cool at first. But, a criticism is that he doesn't let the game breathe. Sometimes it's better to shut up. His voice also sounds like he is going through puberty. I still like him, though.

Him getting a DWI isn’t helping

I don't get people that complain about booth guys. They have to be REALLY bad to matter me, like Aqib Talib.

Sounds like the TikTok generation should love him then

It’s a pretty big part of the broadcast equation and some of it is a bit of a reaction to his initial reception. His first two years people acted like he was gods gift to broadcasting.
It’s honestly kind of impressive how quickly he rotted that amount of hype he was getting by just kind of being lazy at the job
When he was fresh out the league, he had a lot of insight into calls and strategies at the line of scrimmage and was good at figuring out the play call before the snap and would show a pretty unique perspective on offensive game planning overall and clock management
Then the media and fans jerked his dick about it so hard, CBS paid him a huge bag bc other TV providers were trying to poach him during the TV rights negotiations, and the game evolved (as it always does) to where his insight was less useful and specific. Based on reports from CBS and what people witnessed, he just never did any real homework after that point and just started becoming a meme of himself, making his dumb noises and guessing the play (which he got increasingly bad at doing)

yeh, I remember everyone lauding him at the beginning because he was insightful. But all I've heard about him the last two years is complaining. What did he start doing to piss so many people off?

And they are replacing him with Watt? Ooof

Hot take, Nantz sucks more than Romo.

Morals clause for DWI is kinda bullshite. Not exactly OJ or Darren Sharper situation here

When Tucker got hired with that contract, I remember thinking: Was anybody else offering this guy an amount anywhere close to that?

He stopped giving a damn once he signed that monster extension.

CBS execs pulled him aside like 4 years ago and told him he needed to actually do his job so this has been a growing opinion for a few years now with both fans and his bosses.

Although the top games on CBS and FOX draw major audiences during the regular season, the numbers grow -- and the attention spikes -- in the playoffs. So does the scrutiny of the people calling the games for those networks. This year, Greg Olsen of Fox is up. And Tony Romo of CBS is down. The former Cowboys quarterback, who burst onto the scene in 2017 as a breath of fresh air, has quickly assumed the aroma of rotting rock bass, based on the instant assessments made during every game on social media by fans and pundits alike. Romo has taken repeated body blows in the aftermath of Sunday’s AFC Championship. Andrew Marchand of the New York Post said on his podcast with John Ourand of Sports Business Journal that CBS has been aware of Romo’s slippage. Specifically, Marchand said that CBS attempted an “intervention” with Romo during the 2022 offseason, but that things “did not get better.” “There’s kind of a fine line between unconventional and undisciplined,” Marchand said on the podcast.

I’ve said it before but I really don’t understand this board’s infatuation with shitting on PBP guys and analysts
On the rant these threads always start as soon as the other team takes the lead
