Falcons need a winning season in the worst way. Can’t establish a winning culture until you start winning. Sign him to a two year deal and look for your long term answer in this draft or next year’s. Panthers are the new Redskins as long as Tepper owns the team, the Saints are stuck on 8 wins, and Tampa is rolling the dice on Baker. Kirk has been a top 10 QB the last 3-4 seasons and would be significantly better than what the Falcons have had at QB the last 3-4 seasons.

You can still do that by bringing Cousins in, drafting either JJ or Penix and have them sit for a year or two, then take over. Copy the Green Bay model.

We're gonna disagree there. I think a large amount of the premium picks the last 3 years were Arthur Smith picks. Let's see how he drafts w/Raheem. That's gonna say a lot.

Also, the Falcons don't have anything remotely close to Justin Jefferson, or even Jordan Addison for that matter.

I'm gonna give Pitts this year. I have told you this and you keep ignoring it. But he was legit hurt last year and he hasn't had a competent QB since his rookie year in Ryan when he had 1,000 yards receiving. He's healthy this year and if he has Cousins, he'll finally have a competent QB. And Robinson has said that they are gonna use Pitts as more.of a WR than an inline/traditional TE like Smith was.

London is a very very good #2.

I'm very low risk-adverse in this situation.

That's fine. We disagree on this and neither of us will change the other's mind. I stand by my opinion because I started souring on Pitts before he got injured in 2022. The lack of touchdowns was alarming, and I noticed a lack of effort before the injury, notably in the Cincinnati game. He was alligator arming shite and half assing his routes even back then. I hope you're right and he turns into the next Tony Gonzalez. I just haven't seen it so far.

He averaged 4 catches and 60 yards per game as a rookie and scored a whopping one touchdown. Not exactly setting the world on fire.

The Falcons have had a problem getting their best pass catchers TDs for a decade. Look at Julio’s numbers. Their play calling in the red zone is worse than a kindergartener playing Madden on All-Madden.

And 2022 he had Marcus Mariotta throwing him(and I use that term loosely) the football. Then Ridder. And Heinicke sprinkled in.

You see the common denominator here? It's bad QB play. It's no coincidence that his only 1,000 yard season came.when he had a HoF QB throwing him the ball. And Cousins isn't a HoF'er, he's more than capable.

Let's both give him this season. Deal?

Come on man. The falcons have MORE skill talent than the Vikings do.

Drake London is an alpha, all of his metrics prove that. Arthur Smith and Desmond Ridder ran that offense into the ground. IF Cousins recovers from that achilles, and that’s a big if, London will get 140+ targets this season and will score 12+ TD’s, conservatively, if Cousins goes to Atlanta.

The Falcons are a legit sleeper team with Zac Robinson running the Rams scheme and calling plays now and Cousins has played at an elite level for 3 years in a row. The Vikings defense has been piss poor and let that franchise down continuously. Washed Patrick Peterson was their best CB two years ago.

They have a top 3 O-line in the league. They have sophomore Bijan Robinson. They would be easy favorite to win NFC South with Cousins.

His contract makes it harder to build the rest of the roster. If you pay a QB like that, part of the deal is accepting that you won't be good in a lot of other places. The QB needs to be good enough to carry a team despite that. Since the rookie wage scale was introduced, only Mahomes has proven he can do it.

Cousins isn’t getting a long term deal probably three years at most. We can absolutely draft his successor during that time meanwhile let’s draft a player like Turner unless Daniels somehow falls to us and see what we can do with a top 10 QB with this roster

I bet JJ won't like that move because who knows what QB he'll be stuck with.

Cousins has 1 playoff win in 12 seasons

He will be 36 when the season starts

What winning does he have to offer to a franchise devoid of it?

As already mentioned, he's coming off a major injury and probably won't be ready for the start of the season. I also heard he wants at least a 2y/90M contract. Maybe they make it 3y to spread it out, but he wants 45 a year.

I think I'd rather Fields, who is healthy and will cost less than 30M for the next two seasons (plus they could franchise the 6th year). A good offensive coordinator and an appropriate system should make him more than serviceable. Definitely more potential upside with that move and he shouldn't cost more than a 1st round swap and a 3rd..

I’d trade Carr for him right now.

And the Atlanta roster is far more promising than the Saints roster.
