over that chicken shite. seeing all these other games and all the activity that goes on out there and our goal scorer gets a red for some accidental shite.

I don't watch if it's not world cup but do players get carded for embellishment like they get called for penalties in NHL? Soccer is hard to watch with all the flopping and theatrical shite going on. Some of these guys acting like invisible bullets are being fired into their abdomen.

Players can get carded for embellishment but it's rare. One of the most famous instances was in the 2002 World Cup when Itay's Francesco Totti was red carded against Korea.

Happened in the US Paraguay game.

Ream got a yellow for an aggressive challenge near the box.

VAR signaled down to review and upon review it was clear that Ream never even made contact, the Paraguay player just flopped and embellished.

Ref took the card away from Ream and gave the flopper a yellow card for embellishment.

After that the flopping improved for a while in the other games, but it's starting to look like someone needs to receive a yellow for it because the players are doing it more because they are more comfortable again, not worried about there being consequences.

On the flip side, the "play on" mandate from FIFA to the refs to be more lenient when it comes to calling fouls needs to be reeled in a little.

I agree with the whole concept of "let them play", but some of the refs allow too much. Germany basically assaulted Paraguay in their game, physically throwing players to the ground, running into the back with lowered shoulders, throwing elbows and forearms to the heads.

It was egregious and not once did he penalise them. It got to a point that he was going to lose control of the game. And all it would have taken to halt it was giving a yellow card to one player.

If these guys think they can get away with something, they're going to do it as much as possible. Whether that's embellishment or aggressive play.

Because the national team has fought so hard to get his appeal done.
It's great that you think you're a fighter, by typing messages. So brave...warrior

It looks like professional wrestling.

The moment the referee looks at them they fall to the ground writhing in agony and the moment he turns away they’re fine, and the fans seem to eat it up as part of the spectacle.

I hate flopping in football and basketball and the same is true here. If a player reacts that way they should have to sit for a long period for a “safety” evaluation and if it’s shown no contact was made it should be a yellow card or something.

I’ll watch the US during the WC casually if I don’t have something else going on, but as a pure sport it’s still so far behind football, CBB and even playoff hockey as to barely register.
