...is it a worse NBA collapse than the 2016 Finals?

...is it a worse New York sports collapse than the 2004 ALCS?

I'd say yes for both. The Warriors failed to close out the greatest season in NBA history, but the Cavs were at full strength. The Red Sox came back from 3-0 which had never happened in MLB before, but like the Cavs, they were at full strength. Plus most neutral fans were rooting for Cleveland & Boston in those respective series; most neutral fans are rooting for the Knicks in this series.

Losing after going up 3-1 and their perennial All-NBA 1st Team player getting injured would be a franchise-defining loss. It would absolutely break this current core and be in their heads forever, a la 28-3.

Biggest difference I'd call out is both the Warriors and Yankees had 2 home games to get it done.

Knicks would only have one home game.

Meh it's the second round

It would be devastating for the Knicks, but not an all-timer in the grand scheme of things

May or may not happen but seems premature to start a thread about a collapse when they had a 3-1 series lead and have lost one road game to make it 3-2.

The warriors lost that 3-1 lead to the cavs but also overcame a 3-1 deficit to OKC during the conference finals.

not gonna lose but NBA will let it go 7

the celtics are the ones that blew it - if you don't blow two 20 point leads they could have won even without Tatum

The Pacers are the hottest team in the league and are a real threat to win it all

Because it could just as easily be Boston already winning this series in 5 with the way they dominated the first two games but lost both… granted Tatum is now out, but it isn’t too much of a stretch to imagine the champions being champions and getting hot and basically unbeatable (by anyone left until OKC in the finals)

It will be because they didn't borrow THE JUDGE from the Yankees.

2004 Yankees is still the worst I’ve ever seen.

The 2016 Warriors was bad, but, if I remember correctly, Curry was playing with an injury, Bogut got injured in the early 3rd quarter of game 5 and missed game 6 and 7, and Draymond got suspended for a game when they were up 3-1. I can’t remember if the 2004 Yankees had any injuries, but I don’t think they did.

The worst damage for Knicks haters has already been done. Them having the success they've already had against Boston means they'll be showing them on national telecast twice a week next season. They've been showing them at least once a week the last couple of seasons even though this iteration of the Knicks hasn't even gotten to the Eastern Finals. They are probably close enough now to mean they show them as much as they show Boston and the Lakers.

For the 2004 Yankees, the mythical Curse of the Bambino plays a factor.

For the Red Sox to finally break through and coincidentally ALSO do it that way through the Yankees, I don’t know if Yankee fans were ever the same. To this day, they are still overly arrogant but now with a new inferiority complex.

NYK also were the underdogs coming into this series. Not on the precipice of the greatest season of all time.

Great comeback/worst collapse of all time. Can never be topped.
