I'm still offering him the max regardless. I'm sure many teams will. It does change the next regular season though.

It’s why I think the Knicks still sign him.

They give stupid contracts.

80% of KD is a max level player.

Isn't he staying there regardless? Some new t-shirt he released last week.

He has a player option for $31.5 million next year. If the injury is serious enough for him to miss significant playing time, it would make the most sense to spend the year rehabbing on the Warriors dime before hitting free agency again next year.

I disagree. If another team offers him a 4 year max (and I bet at least one does), then it would be much smarter to take that than the 1 year deal. That would give him some protection in the event that his game suffers longterm from the injury.

The question is doesn’t Durant have to decide on the option before he can talk to other teams? I’m sure there is back channeling but he couldn’t be offered anything until he declines the option. At least I think.

he doesn’t want to . . . be a distraction

That's not really part of Durant's MO.

Durant could miss the entire season next year and there will be teams lining up outside his door to give him the max.

Pay attention to how #KevinDurant right calf contracts violently. Beleive it or not, the strength of the gasteocnemius muscle contracting so quickly/forcefully is what tears the Achilles tendon.

It would be a minor miracle if he didn't rupture the Achilles with how that looked.
