I remember at some point last year we debated how elite Joey Gallo was...

Woof. Need to go delete that thread.

167 AB
24 R
31 H
18 RBI
26 BB
.186 AVG
.295 OBP

Contract year no less. Guess some can't do it in NYC. Tons of lineup protection too. Big woof. At least he might not get paid like Chris Davis.

Still a beast defensively so that cooks.

Hope Texas brings him back next year. We offered him like close to $90 mil lol. Dude should choke Boras out for telling him to turn that down.

If you don’t know, the Trade is looking quite lopsided. Ezequiel Duran is our starting 3B right now. He’s been great for a guy that’s hardly played in AA.

Glen Otto has the makings of a 4-5 guy in the rotation. Josh Smith, hurt right now, but has impressed, especially with his ability to make contact.

Would be hilarious to bring Gallo back and him become serviceable again.

No one has ever done enough drugs to claim Gallo as elite

His numbers playing in RF are great it’s when he is moved to LF that are down.

Think the short porch has gotten in his head too much. He can still hit 30 bombs for ny this year and that’s all they wanted from him. Lefty HR hitter to break up the right handed bats. But elite no, a career ~ .205 hitter is not elite.

What are you basing this off of? He seemed pretty excited to be traded to New York and to go home.

Local media in Dallas leading up to the trade widely reported Gallo wanted to stay, sign an extension and be the face of the re-build. Boras played hardball per usual and we didn’t get to their number.

It was a very mixed reaction from the organization and fans because it did seem like everyone wanted to make it work.

Gallo has also been boo’ed a good bit in NY. Never would happen in Texas. Fans loved the guy and he reciprocated that. If he did come back he would be welcomed with open arms as long as the cash is right.

Some can't do it in NY, but he's not being asked to bat 3rd or 4th in the lineup either. His average is pedestrian but he gets on base with walks and is still hitting the long ball. Aaron Hicks is struggling these last 2 months as well. The Yankees keep throwing both out there and they are part of why the Yankees are winning.

Last night Gallo made an incredible catch to save a win late against the Rays. Hicks came through big time with the bat. More timely hitting and great defense.

That's all the Yankees want from these two at the bottom of the order.

Ben Rogers and Jeff Skin Wade from Dallas sports radio used to worship him when he was a Ranger.

ETA: F Gallo and every other Ranger that left for Yankee money. I always hope they suck once they've left.

Recent defectors:

Joey Gallo
Joely Rodríguez
Rougned Odor
Ronald Guzmán
Darren O’Day
Nick Goody
Matt Carpenter
Jose Trevino

High profile Rangers who ended up being Yakees:

A Rod
Kenny Rogers
Mark Teixeira
Ivan Rodriguiz even played there for a season, long after he left Arlington.
