Maybe, but why would they bother? It’s a shite sport. Who wouldn’t want to play football, baseball, or basketball. I for one am damn glad our best athletes don’t play fricking soccer.

Global star composition makes clear that if said shift happened, the physique of the USMNT would still be far closer to that of the GOAT (midget) than the lab grown athlete you have in your head

Globally no other nation puts out the mass number of skilled genetic freaks than the US.

That’s the entire point.

If we trained those skills to be soccer skills we would dominate. We just only care for 1 month every 4 years.

LeBron is as close to a 1 of 1 as you can have so you’re argument that he would be tossed aside because he doesnt fit “the mold” is irrelevant

And even if you take someone like LeBron off the table which would be dumb because the dude is never losing a header or would be an absolute freak as a goalie you still have a massive number of shorter people who could build skills to be elite since apparently you don’t think a American tall person would ever be good at soccer. Even though zlatan is 6’ 5’

You can take Steph curry, Chris Paul, Justin Jefferson, and on and on and on. You have a mass number of guys 6’ 1” or less that have elite jumping skills spatial awareness, foot speed etc.

You have to say that 100s of the most elite athletes in the world would have terrible foot coordination because otherwise every other technical skill translates. We are talking about finding 11 guys. That’s it.

You clearly think Americans are genetically inferior

The slow ones were easier to catch

Think of the talent left behind; the Colonizers maintained control of the talent pool

Nah. You’re just fundamentally confused about the importance of raw athleticism in the game and what’s actually holding the country back from joining the ranks of the powers

Freak athletes not playing the sport ain’t it, unfortunately. Would be nice if it were tho

Yeah. Turns out it's not particularly viable unless you're an exceptionally rare case

And the son of an EPL regular

Unfortunately that's a small n

So combining rare athletic talent/characteristics with skill actually would be impactful. Interesting

Do you think it wise for the Federation to build its development philosophy around an n of 1 or just focus on pulling the obvious levers we all know would actually make a difference

"We" being the lofty elite who actually follow the sport, of course

Do you think the US would benefit from having our best athletes be given dedicated soccer coaching and training from the time they could walk?

You seem to since you already acknowledge that this Norwegian freak of nature is that exact thing and Norway is clearly benefiting

Sure

But that applies to everyone

Including the non-athletic freaks that actually dominate the modern sport

Though I guess we can focus development targeting the less impactful

Like a retarded Pareto principle
