feels like lebron would be a pretty good candidate if given the proper lifelong dedication/coaching he inevitably would have if soccer was our #1 sport

We invented basketball and there arguably aren't any American top 5 NBA players anymore.

We still win international competitions but the rest of the world doesn't give that much of a shite about basketball.

Having a bunch of great athletes doesn't guarantee anything.

There isn’t a point

There’s just confusion and naivety

As is the case every time this thread gets made

No one in Europe or South America or Africa or Asia or Oceania or even Antarctica is over there going “you know what, if America’s best athletes played soccer, we’d all be in trouble”

Why do you think that is?

Why do you think you’re on to something that no one engaged in the sport would believe?

Taking the hint when you’re exposed to a blind spot works way better than ignorance

They are thankful that for once they don’t have to deal with America dominating a sport

They may think football and baseball are silly but they aren’t going to ask questions because for once they don’t have to deal with the Americans

I guarantee that US soccer would love to have the ability to choose between prime Chris Paul Steph curry LeBron Jamar chase, Patrick Peterson etc etc groomed from the age of 4 to play soccer but they know that its not realistic.

Foot speed, overall speed, spatial recognition translate. There may be a few that just don’t have the foot coordination for soccer but we could field 11 that would be elite.

The US dominates basketball at the team level.

The US (obviously) dominates football.

The US dominates baseball.

The US dominates the summer Olympics.

The US is a leading country in the Winter Olympics.

We don’t specialize in just sprinting.

We don’t specialize in cricket.

Our athletes compete in skill based competition.

Our athletes compete in athletic and size based competition.

We have the third largest country in the world and the only two countries larger than us have shown that their population doesnt compete across a broad range of sports.

Yet you think somehow athleticism population and desire go completely out the window and Americans are genetically inferior for soccer.

The US hasn’t lost a game on account of athleticism in decades. If you were familiar with our standing in the sport, you’d know we are regarded as one of the more athletic teams. It loses due to relative lack of technical skill

You’re surely aware of that, right? Cause this is basic

So why the confused manifesto above?

Because you literally argued who made this point

quote:

The entire world is losing its mind over a 6'5 Norwegian just physically dominating and scoring over everyone and im supposed to believe a physcially/athletically in his prime LeBron wouldnt do literally whatever he wanted if he was given soccer training from the time he could walk like all these other countries do?

He specifically said the scenarios where he was trained in soccer skills as a child.

You smug soccer idiots literally believe that someone like LeBron who has elite spatial awareness. Elite athleticism. Elite jumping ability. Elite physical conditioning. Elite coordination. Is INCAPABLE of being trained to be an elite soccer player.

And not only that individual. But to replicate that scenario over hundreds of times when you add in every American born NBA player, Euro basketball player, NFL player, MLB player and American born NPB player etc etc etc.

The discussion was if you took our athletes and changed the culture where our elite athletes aspired to be soccer players what would happen. And your contention is that we are genetically inferior since you clearly are arguing against us performing well.

Hey everyone, RemoulaudeSawce knows more about fútbol than all of us combined so don’t even bother bringing your uneducated drivel here. That’s Mbappe’s TD handle. I was scolded by him on the soccer board two weeks ago. Know your place!!!

Not being a retard or oblivious to basic realities regarding the sport doesn’t make me a savant

It just makes me not a retard

Best of luck trying to understand it tho

I told you two weeks ago I played the game for 10+ years growing up and love it. You acting like an arrogant European know it all is the exact reason why there is so much vitriol towards the game here.
