This is from a Forbes writer

quote:

49ers and Detroit have been talking trade through the night. Holmes wants it done quick, any team.

quote:

49ers offered 2 second round picks and 2 third rounds picks. From what I know.

Not a bad haul for either of them. So what’s Jimmy GQ’s contract situation. Looking at a trade or just cutting him?

The Niners got 3 third round picks because Saleh and Mayhew got hired as HC and GM of the Jets and WFT. Sold.

Contract was front-loaded when he signed ($37mm cap hit in 2018 when the Niners had a massive amount of cap room). No guaranteed money left, just $4.2mm in dead money if they cut him. Even after accounting for that Stafford would still be cheaper if his contract wasn't reworked.

I don't hate Garoppolo but in his 3 full seasons he's only played 25 out of 48 possible regular season games. The Niners have a nice 2-year ish window open (when healthy) but they have to have their starting QB on the fricking field. I'd be down.

So where does Jimmy go? Back to NE? Houston? Indy? Bridge starter in Jacksonville or NY?

ESPN showed on their ticker that Stafford is targeting the Rams. That's not possible, is it?

He could play till he’s 50. Carolina isn’t given up the #8 pick for him. That’s absurd.

Rams leaked that they like the Wolford kid. Honestly, the Rams would do well with an Alex Smith circa 2016-2017 type. Decently athletic game managed that you don’t have to break the bank for. McVay’s system does require a QB to be a superstar. Throw a great o-line out front and let the backs do work and hit those key passes when necessary. It’s a lot like what the Browns ran this year.

Teddy Bridgewater isn't answer in Carolina. Stafford has several good years left

well that's a stretch seeing how both have been banged up over the years.

Stafford and Teddy have the same amount of playoff wins as a starter also.

Rams and Goff are in a pissing contest. Let's see what develops.

As for Stafford, if as reported 1/3 (10-11 teams) are interested in Stafford then the price is going to be more than a 1st round pick. There are teams that believe they are a QB away now who will overpay. At 33 this coming season, he physically should have 4-5 good years left, especially if he goes to one with a good OL.

The QB dominos are going to make for an exciting offseason. I can't remember a time when arguably 2 top 10 QBs (Desean and Stafford) are going to get moved.

Rams trade him and they recoup 12.75mil (22.2mil dead tho)

HUGE mistake paying him when your head coach was still the one making audibles for him

He went to Georgia and he's from Texas. Not exactly in a position to be a favorite of LSU fans.
