London ain't happening now with their left-wing restrictions on free speech. Can you imagine how long your average NFL player on Twitter would last in England?

Pretty sure getting jailed for speech stuff in england only applies to whites so most NFL players would be fine

Relocation has to be approved by every owner, right? Jerra and the McNair's will always vote no.

And it makes no sense for the league for the Panthers to move to San Antonio nor Austin. You’ll lose the Carolinas and at best you’ll siphon off current fans from the Cowboys and Texans.
Charlotte is a bigger and better market than either Austin or San Antonio. Even if you want to make it a regional thing, the Carolina are still a better market than Central/West Texas.
The only team in the NFL that is at risk of moving in the next 10 years or so is the Saints. City and state are losing population, stadium is old and outdated, and the support is very fair weather. Having said that, I doubt we see them move in that time unless the team is sold.

Gayle relocates Saints to Vatican City. JK. Lol
I actually agree on your opinion about them in 10 years.

Well they just passed a continuation of a tax to give this piece of shite more money. Owner is so out of touch, and idiots can't stop voting to give said billionaire more, more, and more.

I swear, it blows my mind that so many people don’t know how the NFL rules work when it comes to relocation…it only take 3/4 of the owners to vote yes. So Dallas and Houston can’t do a dam thing if another franchise wants to relocate to San Antonio/Austin and the other owners vote yes. It’s truly mind blowing so many people think Jimmy can just say no and get what he wants. In my opinion the Chargers will be the franchise that moves to San Antonio. They’re not even top 10 in LA…
Which market do you think benefits the league more?
They would vote against the move, every single owner.

It’s also mind blowing that you think Jones doesn’t have friends/allies/the political capital to get the 8 votes he would need to block it

I also think it’s highly unlikely the NFL is going to be the Austin pro sports guinea pig. Building a stadium in the relative middle of nowhere between Austin/SA (which isn’t particularly convenient to either) is a massive undertaking and risk
A group in Austin should try to jump Houston for an NHL team. That would be very realistic if they got the money together and could figure out where to build an arena as I don’t think Moody would work

MLS is the only “major” pro sports franchise that can work there. NBA just isn’t an option, MLB isn’t an option for the same reason the NFL isn’t an option, and there isn’t the interest for a NHL team in that region.

I think the NHL could work fine in Austin where there’s a ton of transplants and money. The issue would be financing and building a new arena.
Posted on 8/20/24 at 3:03 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
Most of those transplants are from California and already have teams. Vegas works because they have a steady stream of tourists from all over the world. Austin does not have that.

Panthers are fine if they win. Just like every other market.

I think all the NFL teams are more or less settled now. Maybe a new Chargers owner down the road would want their own stadium (in San Diego?) but that's about it.
I think we see expansion again before we see the next relocation.

The Saints are in no danger of moving. They are the Gulf South’s team with 5 million fans
