How is Lebron at 38 still able to outperform MJ at 34.

We saw the writing on the wall that MJ declined at 34. It was his lowest-priced eFG % ever.

Lebron at 38 is still able to maintain a higher ppg at a much higher efficiency

Even taking away 3 pters (MJ was 24% from 3 at 34. Down from 43% 2 years earlier at a higher volume) Lebron is still much more efficient at scoring

Today's game plays no defense compared to the 70's, 80's and early 90's.

Crazy how he’s doing all of this at 38 and in a tougher league on both sides.

10 out of 10 times, I’d pick MJ over Lebron to start building a franchise. It’s not even close.

Correct. If Lebron was playing the Isiah Thomas Pistons, he'd get laid out by an elbow if he came in the lane like he does constantly. Oh, and whoever gave him the elbow might not even get a technical foul.

It's easy to score when there is no defense being played.

Just as many buckets were being scored throughout the 70s and 80s and half the 90s. Teams averaged 111 pts per game with no 3 pt line vs 111 pts per game last year with 1

League is more whistle happy these days. LeBron flops more than anything, takes himself out of games, claims serious injury when is barely touched; so of course he’s going to last longer. At the earliest sign of adversity, he whines and leaves the game. No defense in todays game. It’s easy to score. It’s all stat-driven now.

Jordan was out of the league for nearly two seasons after his father died. He easily could have padded his scoring total when all said and done. Jordan is a better scorer, more athletic when up and down the court, drives into contact and welcomes it, doesn’t flop, better entertainer, and doesn’t take himself out of games.

Jordan is the NBA. He will always be the greatest. LeBron will never measure up to the global impact Jordan had on and off the court. And Jordan is still impacting the game today.

Has nothing to do with field goal percentage.

And for the defense was better in the 80s argument, the stats dont back it up.

1989 teams made 42.5 shots on 89 attempts per game

2022 teams made 40.6 shots on 88 attempts per game.

That is despite 2022 nba players being much better shooters

False. Players today would feast on the defenses of old. They got more one-on-one matchups back then due to defensive rules and someone like Lebron or Durant would break teams.

Less personal foul calls and free throw attempts in the modern era. And you have to try to get a traveling call.
