New England was 8-8 the year before Bill took over and they had to surrender a 1st, 4th, and 7th round pick for tampering with Bill.

Ugh I'm struggling this morning. They had made the playoffs two years before and had some talent.

Either way, 19-19 without Brady as his starting QB in his career in New England.

Brady was Trevor Siemian in his 1st 2 super bowls. A young QB with an elite defense. Siemian had a passer rating of 84.6 this year. In 2001 and 2003 Brady had a passer rating of 86.5 and 85.9.
You are seriously understating Tom Brady in those Super Bowls. Tom Brady was money on 3rd downs in those Super Bowls. They wouldn't have won without his greatness on 3rd downs.

8 of 17 on 3rd downs in the 2nd Super Bowl. But 2 of 11 in the 1st one.

Took a swing, got 1 out of 2,good work!!!

Since Brady took over 16 years ago - NE has a 75% winning rate WITHOUT him while the replacement QBs have relatively the same QB rating.

That's really all that needs to be said

Can someone throw out said team record when Peyton Manning is injured or not playing?

Brady has done it without the stable of future hall of famers like Manning and Montana had. Besides Randy Moss for that one amazing year and the often injured Gronkowski, Brady has consistently put his team in contention with small, white, under-sized receivers, middle of the road running backs, and usually just an average defense.

Montana had Jerry Rice and John Taylor for most of his wins, along with Roger Craig. Their defense was pretty stout, too.

Manning had Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Edgerin James. Also benefited from having two great defensive ends that kept getting him the ball.

Both Montana and Manning were great. Not taking anything away from them at all. But in my opinion, Brady has done more with less, and more consistently.

Because it's such a subjective term. You can make arguments for pretty much any QB in the top 7 or so as the GOAT. Add that to the fact there is almost no way to compare the current league to even 15 years ago, it's almost all opinion.

It's all idiotic because Ed Reed is the GOAT.

The more I see this, the more racist I think people are toward white skill players today. Wes Welker was one of the greatest WRs to ever play the game yet he's hardly mentioned because he's white.

Basically I ignore the "white" part. If the players are good, they are good regardless of skin color and I think THAT outlook is what makes the Patriots so good as an organization. They don't care about race. They care about intelligence in their players - black, white, blue, or otherwise.

Some of you are so ignorant and biased when discussing Brady it's comical. A bunch of southerners of course will break for Brees and Manning.

You guys act like Brady has gone out and been average his whole career and chunked it 50 times a game his entire career for his stats while praying for good defense...the guy is a fricking surgeon and you really only need watch what he's done this season to know he is either No. 1 or No. 2 all-time.

And for the record, the Pats had some BAD defenses between 2007-2012 that held the team back from another possible title, not to mention Pats defense is on the hook for two SB losses.

I was a fan of his also, but saying he was one of the greatest to ever play is a huge stretch. Not to mention, he didn't do much before or after playing for the Patriots.

The best all time is
Otto Graham and not just because he has a great name. He led the all rookie team to beat the defending champ Green bay Packers. He won several championships. He started in pro basketball too.
A real athlete.

Brady is immobile. System guy.

Brady was 2nd string behind chad henne at mich even after leading team to victory when henne went down.

I love Brady's energy and enthusiasm. Someone find and post the video of tom in his first ever series in a nfl preseason game.
Opponent knocks him on his arse. He gets up and claps his hands, and hollers "lets go!!"

Russell stopped Wilt at the rim with games on the line. It was astonishing.

I would rather have a healthy Walton. Complete game.

His stats are Top 5 in just about every major passing category. If he stays in the league 2-3 more years he just might pass Peyton Manning's career numbers. He has 11 AFC Conference Championship Game appearances, 7 Super Bowl appearances, and 4 Super Bowl victories (with a possibility of a 5th a week from Sunday). What more does he need to prove?

Gotta agree here..........

Henne was after Brady

It was Henson, he was all B1G I believe in 2000.

Brady to me isn't the best ever but he is in top 10%

I believe the UM QB starters by years were
Griese
Dreisbach
Griese (NC year)
Dreisbach/Brady
Henson/Brady (Orange Bowl)
Henson

Henne started as a Fr in 04 or 05

He set his personal season single touchdown record while in Denver, with 10 in 2013.

Its funny how people act like everyone on the Pats is a Brady creation. Yet they never seem to stop winning without him.
