I can't believe the first game is starting at 3:00 on NYE also...a lot of people will still be at work.

So stupid.

It's so dumb. Can't believe the ncaa was unable to buy in to a better day, especially considering how great 1/1 and 1/2 would be this year. I will be able to watch about half of the first game and none of the second.

The Rose Bowl holds all the cards. I guarantee you the Sugar bowl was just riding the coat tails of the Rose. The Rose basically said we are playing at our normal time on NYD and there is nothing you can do about it.

Changes are coming after this contract ends.

Don't like it. I'd rather have it on New Years Day.

Don't like it, promised my wife I would take her to dinner and a Blues game before I knew the CFP was on NYE. I'm going to burn up all my data plan at the hockey game streaming the football games

The Rose Bowl is more important of a tradition than these games. In a few years these games will be gone or the format changed but the Rose Bowl will still be there on NYD in its regular time slot.

Personally, looking forward to NYE now. I was never a fan of amateur night and these games will make the house party we're having even better.

Didn't the CFP committee try to put them on New Year's Day but the Rose Bowl committee refused to move their bowl game to the 2nd?

b/c the fricking Big 10 and Pac 12 likely wouldnt have joined into the playoff system w/o it.

remember, the Rose Bowl wasn't in the original Bowl Alliance that was set up to try and make 1 v 2 matchups.

It sucks. Going to miss most of first game and I'm on East coast. Would really suck to he in earlier time zone.

I don't know if it is a good choice, but putting them on 12/30 is terrible too.

NYE is a shitty, shitty holiday in terms of finding something laid back to do. I imagine a lot of people will opt for "normal" bars and staying home/friend gatherings to watch these games. More than 1/1? Surely not, but still, I don't think it'll be a bust.

A quick Google search shows the sugar bowl has not been on New Year's Day 16 out of the last 20 years. Probably wasn't them creating push back.
