We'll have like 12-13 mill in cap space without West opting out. With West opting out, we could have as much as 20 mill, depending on the cap.

If the next GM was somehow able to pull off the miracle of the century and turn Okafor and Posey into expirings, we could theorheticaly get both Carmelo and Gasol to pair with CP, AND then re-sign Thornton and West.

Paul/DC
Thornton/Head
Carmelo/Pondexter
West/Brackins
Gasol/Gray

Hey, if you're going to dream, dream BIG.

West will probably opt out regardless.

I hope he does. The guy will quit when we trade CP, so what does it really matter?

ETA: Why would a 7' Spaniard come to NOLA? I bet he's miserable in Memphis. I hope he likes ribs (he has to, it's impossible not to).

He actually went to high school in Memphis while Pau played for the Grizzlies. I'm sure he wouldn't mind New Orleans.

I will chop my own dick off on JustinTV if this happens.

Pau and Kobe together basically make the cap. That would be some complete bs if Memphis fricking gives him to the Lakers.

If I was the Hornets GM I would trade CP3, West, Okafor, and Posey for young talent, cap space, and draft picks. Gasol would be worth a max deal to the Hornets.

Collison, Thornton, and Gasol could be a nice core.

I am sure if you gave him a max deal and told him he was the man he would be cool with NOLA.

I would think NOLA might be kind of cool for a foreigner, but IDK. I could be wrong. What do yall think?

Memphis isn't even in the same league as New Orleans. Gasol would leave in a heartbeat

I haven't heard anything good/bad from Peja on the city but I do know Boki Nochbar(2005 team) was really fond of the city. He said it reminded him of Europe.

First two years in the league:

Okafor

35.6 mins 15.1 ppg 10.9 rebs 1.7 blks
33.6 mins 13.2 ppg 10.0 rebs 1.9 blks(26 games)

Gasol

30.7 mins 11.9 ppg 7.4 rebs 1.1 blks
35.8 mins 14.6 ppg 9.3 rebs 1.6 blks

NO WAY i'd give Gasol a max deal unless he makes a HUGE leap next season

Gasol is the 4th option in Memphis, Okafor was the 2nd/sometimes top option in Charlotte for a few years. apples and oranges. Okafor is known for not having any offensive game, Gasol is known for having developed a solid skill set in the Spanish league.

Maybe so, but he's nowhere close to a max player yet

above average big men get paid huge deals when they're young, that's just the market for them. when you have a guy with the potential Gasol has you'll have to go even higher.

+1

Why are we wanting to get rid of CP and Okafor for this dude? Granted it I haven't seen him play much but what I have seen he isn't anything near max. And why would we dump CP in hopes of bringing in an "up and rising star"? We have a star...his name is Chris Paul.

So we are going to be rebuilding for the next 3 years and then bring in new faces. Give them a year to gel. So we should have a team by 2014?

No one can honestly tell me that we would be a better team by offloading Paul and then bringing in Marc Gasol.

No problem chief.

Just tell me how getting rid of Paul and bringing in Gasol makes us a better team.

We pay Gasol max money, he better turn into a perennial all star or his deal kills us. I just dont think its worth the risk.

We aren't getting rid of Paul for a second round pick. We'll get something in return as well as cap flexibility.

Gasol gives us a post presence.

Hasta!
