How big of a deal could we give Marc Gasol?

Or would we have to try a sign and trade?

If we make a CP3/Okafor trade sometime this year probably up to the max.

Mid level exception. Would be better to do a sign and trade.

He's going to get a near max deal, me thinks.

If we trade Okafor/CP3 we could get him. It'll take a max contract to get him to NOLA. That's probably more than he's worth, but I don't have a problem overpaying a young, legit 7-footer.

If we don't trade CP3/Okafor, we won't be able to get him.

I'm a CP3 fan, think he's the best pg in the game but if we can trade CP3 + Okafor and end up with Gasol, we'd be a much better team.

I don't think Memphis would do a deal for CP3/Okafor (or at least not a good enough deal that the Hornets would accept).

That's a shitload of money between two players. They already have Gay with a max contract. Plus, they have Thabeet and that Iranian center, so I doubt they'd want Okafor.

My hopes is that we get rid of CP3/Okafor for young, solid talent (with star potential) and some cap flexibility.

theoretically, if he doesn't get a max deal, we may be able to get him next year

I didn't mean trade them to Memphis, I just meant get rid of them to get Gasol.

He'll get at least what Dalembert got. That's a little less than the max, correct?

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what affect the new CBA has.

he'd be an all-star with a real PG.

The problem with trading Paul is West opting out. He is gone if he thinks the team is going through a youth movement. The Hornets might have to move West, Paul, Okafor and Posey this year. The next GM has a big decision to make either make a run at a top player to pair with Paul or trade Paul along with Posey and Okafor to get lots of cap flexibility.

If West opts out, then that's about 9 million dollars free plus Brackins.

West will probably opt out regardless. He's worth more than he makes, and his salary actually descends each year, I believe.

Brackins may have been drafted in because they believe West will opt out.

FML

ETA: Why would a 7' Spaniard come to NOLA? I bet he's miserable in Memphis. I hope he likes ribs (he has to, it's impossible not to).

He needs to be a Hornet. He would demand a fairly large contract though
