Hopkins: I’m better than Julio and Mike Thomas, didn’t have Brees or Ryan for whole career

he's not wrong, really. late stage schaub and tj yates didn't exactly inspire confidence. he finally got someone to throw him the ball and then they traded him.

He’s not better than either one of those guys imo, certainly not prime Julio.

Truly great receivers perform no matter who their quarterback is and it’s not always about the empty stats in garbage time either.

he obviously would have done extremely well in those circumstances but there is still essentially a ceiling on numbers for these elite WR1 guys.

no one can say for sure that he wouldn't have put up better numbers with brees or ryan, but they'd be marginally better at best (and probably marginally worse at worst).

probably noteworthy that he had 1500 yards and 11 TDs in 2015 catching passes from brian hoyer and ryan mallett

it's kind of incredible how good he's been when you consider that hoyer or maybe ryan fitzpatrick was the best qb he'd played with prior to deshaun

He’s great. Really great. I don’t think he’s as good as those other two but if he had a great QB who knows?

This is what you expect any top player at any position to say.

He's been targeted more than Mike Thomas since Mike got into the league

I'm sure they weren't all awesome throws but he's been getting the ball slung his way more than MT

Hopkins is a damn strong WR, its not easy to compare. No need for all this, but its the world we live in now. And its part of the reason why they're elite athletes.

Im not sure he ever played with Schaub. Might have been a couple of years after.

Mike Thomas knows a lot of players low key hate on his numbers because of Brees. And they have a good point. MT is perfect for Brees’ 20 yard and in arm......it’s not a knock, just a fact

Thomas hasn't exactly had prime Brees either.

Hopkins is a really good receiver. Top 3 next to those guys. Arguing about stats if you switched players to different teams is an area of argument that is fricking stupid.

Imagine if the Browns, Bills, or Lions drafted Tom Brady. Jerry Rice on a different team with different qbs. Barry Sanders on a team that actually had an Oline. We can do this all day.

Meh to an extent but not really. Putting up big receiving numbers on mediocre/trash teams isn’t that impressive especially when you factor in the YAC issues he had his first 3-4 years in the league and his target numbers.
