I feel like it does a disservice to list the rankings without listing the composite ranking (Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams).
Overall, FEI Ranking and composite score.
2016 Clemson- 2 - 0.320
2015 Alabama- 1 - 0.333
2014 Ohio State- 1 - 0.298
2013 Florida State- 1 - 0.319
2012 Alabama- 1 - 0.324
2011 Alabama- 3 - 0.306
2010 Auburn- 1 - 0.348
2009 Alabama- 1 - 0.342
2008 Florida- 1 - 0.356
2007 LSU- 1 - 0.282
In addition, below is the raw difference with the highest ranking FEI out of all the teams who did not win the national championship.
2016 Clemson -0.030
2015 Alabama +0.063
2014 Ohio State +0.007
2013 Florida State +0.008
2012 Alabama +0.005
2011 Alabama -0.012
2010 Auburn +0.046
2009 Alabama +0.052
2008 Florida +0.074
2007 LSU +0.020
If we combine this ratings, which gives us the efficiency rating + the efficiency rating above the next best team, then maybe we can see who was the most complete championship team for that season.
1. 2008 Florida +0.430
2. 2015 Alabama +0.396
3T. 2009 Alabama +0.394
3T. 2010 Auburn +0.394
5. 2012 Alabama +0.329
6. 2013 FSU +0.327
7. 2014 OSU +0.305
8. 2007 FSU +0.302
9. 2011 Alabama +0.294
10. 2016 Clemson +0.290
No matter how you look at it, the 2008 Florida team was not only had the highest FEI, it had the highest FEI above the next best team so combined it is the clear best team by all accounts.

Losing to Ole Miss is the quickest way for a team to achieve their best and final form
Posted on 11/6/17 at 5:37 pm to ReauxlTide222
2008 Ole Miss was easily the third best SEC team that year

2008 UF was pretty stout. Damn.
i think they're the best overall team the SEC has produced during their championship run.
Just as good on defense as any of the alabama teams, with a far better offense.

2008 had a legit 4 or 5 teams that were championship-worthy in most other years. Florida, Oklahoma, and Texas all had amazing teams with all-time great college QBs. USC had one of the nastiest defenses of the decade
My favorite season of the past decade, and it's not even close. CFB just seems so mediocre now.

Ehh, they weren’t as good defensively as 2011 Alabama. 5 of 11 starters from that bunch were first round draft picks. 4 of those guys are still playing at high level

Being as talented and being as good during the season aren't necessarily the same thing.

Any other year and all those teams win the Natty.
You had 4 teams with 1-loss and an undefeated Utah team that whipped Alabama.
Now that would have been an awesome CFB playoff of 4 teams.

Those are some cool stats. That Tebow Florida team was really freaking good. Wow.
I think Washington is actually really good, but they would definitely need some help to get in. It would start with Wisky losing, as well as Oklahoma possibly losing another game.

Where did you get this? I'd like to see where 2013 Auburn was just to know. Itd be interesting to see 2004 as well.

I still think that '08 OU offense was the best I've seen in CFB. Just seemed like they could whatever they wanted. That was of course until they ran into UF.
No Demarco Murray hurt a lot

The 2008 title game is the most fun I've ever had watching a championship that didn't involve Alabama. Both teams were elite. Loaded rosters and loaded coaching staffs. I watched the game in a garage full of
Gator fans and when Major Wright took the head off of Manny Johnson early in that game I though the roof was gonna come off the house.

Dang...2008 was a long time ago. There's 12 players on that OU roster still on NFL rosters. Some of dudes are getting old though.
Murray - Titans
L. Jones - Steelers
Bradford - Vikings
Donald Stephenson - Broncos
Trent Williams - Redskins
Gresham - Cards
James Hanna - Cowboys
David King - Titans
Stacy McGee - Redskins
Gerald McCoy - Bucs
Tress Way - Redskins
James Winchester - Chiefs
Pretty sure Florida had a ton also.

2013 Auburn
Offensive FEI- 7
Defensive FEI- 10
As for 2004 Auburn, it only goes back to 2007. I'm not sure where they would have ranked.

They were better by almost every metric. They allowed over 100 ypg less than ‘08 Florida. Fact check before you come in here with that nonsense. Hell, the 2008 Alabama defense finished ahead of the 2008 Florida defense

2011 Alabama had the best college defense I've ever seen
Posted on 11/6/17 at 7:47 pm to VADawg
They played like it was a sin to give up a yard.

, I said being as talented and being as good =/= equal. 2013 LSU offense is a pretty good example, for starters.

Fixed. Also USC would of smacked UF and Oklahoma
