Great but that's not what the law says. Sounds like you need to get into politics.

And to those who are upset by this (reasonably so) and say "no one else gets this deal," yes they do. why?

I would argue 3-10 years isn't severe enough. I get the response of losing a decade of his life, losing millions, all fair points. The simple counter is a person died due to his intentional recklessness, that trumps money and a few years IMO

Except there are laws in place that determine this.

Except I already discussed that, but people are just reading what they want to read, I guess

I also said in the line you quoted that it was "in my opinion" so rather clearly not what the law states, so not really sure what you're getting at there, it's not relevant at all to what I said.

Would you say the same thing if this was about an Auburnnplayer?????

Sure. If someone makes a colossal mistake and does something terrible like Ruggs did, they can either just give up or they can try to change themselves and do something positive.

What does that mean?

Maybe get involved in prison ministry or when that person gets out of prison maybe they can start speaking to young people about the damage that doing something like this can cause. Nothing can ever undo or make up for the damage caused, but that doesn’t mean someone like Henry Ruggs can’t use his situation to try to do something good.

3-10 years is quite a large range for penalty.

What determines if someone gets 3 years or 10 years?

I'm sure it comes down to the facts of the case. This fuy get all fricked up and drives 150mph recklessly, and kills somebody due to his own actions and behavior...

How is that not evidence for the maximum penalty of 10 years?

but I think there is a clear logical argument to be made that this person does not deserve to ever walk free again considering he killed someone with the decisions he made.

That’s fine for discussion purposes but no one would ever take a plea for that, good luck with all those jury trials and appeals

I would think (outside of you apparently) everyone saying he should be in jail for life or 30 years do not mean it just in theory but in reality, that would require trials and appeals which would take years and a lot of resources and time by the prosecutors

I hope the victims family shows up to every parole hearing and shuts that shite down so he ends up doing at least 8 years. Still not enough.

The court system is so lenient on DUI's to begin with, and it seems even more on DUI's where vehicular homicide is involved.

6 Months?

Probably. They’ll give him credit for time served under house arrest.

O.J. SIMPSON BLASTS HENRY RUGGS' PRISON SENTENCE...Math Doesn't Add Up

quote:

O.J. Simpson doesn't understand how Henry Ruggs drove over 155 MPH, intoxicated, killing a 23-year-old and her dog, but could be out in a few years ... while he received a 9 to 33-year sentence in the same courthouse for an armed robbery where no one was hurt.

"The math just does not add up."

quote:

"I know I went to college on a football scholarship but somehow this math is not adding up to me. You're driving a car at roughly 160 miles per hour on a public street and end up killing a girl and her dog and you get three to ten years?", O.J. asked.

The NFL legend continued ... "You go to a hotel room that you're invited to to retrieve your own personal stolen property, property I now have because it was ruled to be mine by the state of California, and you get nine to 33 years?"

No, not without intent

Maybe it is just me but 156 mph and twice the legal limit could argued as a intent based upon the total disregard for life.

Normal people never would get this deal.

3-5 year sentence in prison is normal here for DUI manslaughter. Especially if you don't have a prior record.
