that would require trials and appeals which would take years and a lot of resources and time by the prosecutors

Nor do victims of other crimes that doesn’t change the fact that there is not an unlimited amount of time and resources for the DA/police to prosecute. If you want to throw the book and DUI vehicular manslaughter that’s fine, just know that will take a lot of time and there is always a risk in a jury trail that they find the defendant not guilty.

How much time has he been credited with for his house arrest?

He might only have a year or so to serve left in the end if he is a good boy.

I get what you are saying, but there is no way in hell that a Jury finds him innocent - and 3 to 10 is WAY to short of time for this - he says he is remorseful, of course he is - he wants to appear that way in order to get a lesser sentence - not saying he isn't remorseful, but he should have been put away for a lot longer time, and no credit for his house arrest - that is BS on a stick

Our justice system is completely broken across the board

I understand what you’re saying, but far too often, people are let off completely or get BS sentences because of all the red tape you listed.. we need to completely revamp the whole process

This Nov will make 2 years since it happened. Assume he has been on out on bail this whole time so no credit for time served?

Just wanted to bump this with some more info that is kind of mind blowing with how easy this guy got off from this.

He was initially taken to High Desert State Prison the largest prison in SO NV (4200 inmates) but was moved to Stewart Conservation Camp (360 inmates).

And he does this:

quote:

Most of the inmates at SCC are assigned to 12-man fire crews working with the Nevada Division of Forestry, which has 22 personnel at the prison.

Some SCC inmates work at the Silver State Industries ranch, which grows alfalfa, operates a dairy and raises cattle. Ranch inmates also work training horses for adoption through the Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse and Burro Program.

Not only that but Nevada has a mandatory parole release which is set at July 4th 2027. He will do 3 years and 11 months in a workers camp at worst. His first parole chance is Aug 5th 2026 at 3 years.

quote:

According to Nevada Department of Corrections records, Ruggs’ earliest parole eligibility date is Aug. 5, 2026. Ruggs’ maximum incarceration is 120 months, but the Department of Corrections currently calculates his mandatory parole release as July 4, 2027.

Donte Stallworth says Ruggs should have flashed his lights to let the lady know he was about to hit her car and wound up with only a few weeks in jail.

This was the wreck where they caught him on camera flying through city streets, right?

Definitely less than I would expect.

It doesn’t disclose this, but I’m sure he agreed to pay her family a hefty sum of money as well.
