can you imagine if he and Hakeem had matured together? And with the guards they had (before the coke suspensions).

Tracy Mcgrady is my answer.

Not sure TMac qualifies considering he played for 15 years and scored nearly 20,000 points. Would have been nice to see him avoid injury, but he had a solid seven years of high-level play.

Kobe could have been the even GOAT'er had he not had to have sacrificed his game playing alongside Shaq.

I'm surprised Jay Williams hasn't been mentioned.

Reggie Lewis and Len Bias for me. I would have liked to see them carry the Celtics post Bird, McHale, Parrish.

Also Hank Gathers.....

Forgot about him and how could I? He was one of my favorite players back then.

Some good ones mentioned. Ill throw in Bobby Hurley. He would have been a great point guard in the league.

The ACTUAL correct answer is Arvydas Sabonis.

7-4 center that could run the floor, shoot (with range) and pass.

He finally came over 12 years after being drafted, and without knees, and was still a very good player.

Bill Walton comes to mind for me also. Stellar beginning to his career but injuries made him a bit player (albeit a good one for the 86 Celtics for instance) when he could have been dominant.

It's a damned shame that it took almost three pages for Sabonis to get mentioned.

If we're bringing in international players born at the wrong time: Oscar Schmidt. Leading scorer in basketball history. Never played in the NBA.

you bring up TMac...what if TMac played on the Suns early in his career with their magical training staff?

Reggie Lewis and Len Bias vs. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in the early 90s would have been epic.
