The 50s/60s Celtics won what, 10 out of 11 Finals?

About half the 70s Steelers and 80s 49ers team are in the HOF and each won 4 SBs.

The 20s Yankees had the best players in the league at 5 different positions.

As far as the Warriors go, I'm not even sure they beat the Lakers squad that three peated in the early 2000s. Shaq might average 50 in that series.

A team full of some of the most unlikeable personalities ever for sure.

Kerr said it best - he absolutely could not play in today's NBA, but he was taking game winners for Jordan's Bulls.

They’re the embodiment of how the game in this era is to be played and they do it at the highest level, so consistent as well

They would fricking abuse Shaq in pick and rolls.

You're right though, Shaq would get his.

When talking about teams across eras, it needs to be measured on how they performed against their peers. Same holds true for players. You cant compare things today 1:1 with something 50 or 60 years ago. Nobody in pro sports dominated their day like the 60s Celtics did

It would be interesting IMO. The 1996 Bulls were probably the greatest collection of defensive players on one team in league history. Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and Harper were all top-10 defenders in the league and the former three are generally considered some of the all-time best defensive players.

At the very least it's probably the one team in league history that could have matched up with GS on the defensive end. The Bulls would have to bench Longley and start Harper/Jordan/Kukoc/Pippen/Rodman.

He wouldn't have enough gas in the tank to score 50. They'd put him on an island guarding Curry or KD in the pick and roll so fast

they are phenomenal but they should be. ill never respect them for as long as they have KD. they stacked their hand and act like they are awesome when they win. unfortunately, for fans, like myself, all Golden State's championships have asterisks on them with KD, they seem cheap. like stacking your old school madden teams with players that have all 99 ratings. it doesn't take a lot of skill to kick everyone else's arse.

however I'm still happy they beat Harden

Green vs. Rodman down low?

that's a cage fight WAITING to happen

ETA: is Kerr playing with Bulls or coaching GSW in this hypothetical match-up?

Sure, but if the series is played with today's rules Shaq gets to sag like a motherfricker and he probably fouls out half their team on the other end.

Yeah it’s ridiculous to compare GS to the Lakers of 2001 much less the Celtics from the 60s. Golden State has the benefit of coming after those teams.

And kobe was would be up to the task on defense. But the Lakers would have no answer for KD and Fisher would get eaten alive

One of them wouldn't make it out of the series alive

My money is on Rodman in that fight. Green is a great player with a lot of fire, but much of his "toughness" is a façade and false bravado. Dennis Rodman was legitimately fricking crazy and you don't frick with people like that.

0 chance. Playing with 90's rules, Bulls prob win but would take at least 6 games. GW has too much offense.

They won before KD... they hit on two first round picks and even a second round pick and that allowed for them to bide their time in free agency.

That's the ultimate goal of any team, build a foundation in the draft and then sign a big name. As a Pels fan, I would take their situation in a heartbeat, as would you and every other fan of their respective NBA team.

They say that about every dynasty in ever sport.

We were never going to see the 1980's Niners again. Then we had the 1990's Cowboys.

We were never going to see the 1986 Boston Celtics - then we had the 1990's Bulls.

We were never going to see the 1927 Yankees again...and then we had...

Well we're never going to see the 1927 Yankees again.

Those Celtics teams would not be able to stay within 50 of these Warriors squads. Not hyperbole.

Sure it’s hyperbole. It was 50+ years ago, the world is totally different now, training medicine etc Phoenix would probably beat a team from 60 years ago if you sent them back in a time machine as is. Given that it’s the height of hubris to proclaim we will never see this again. There may be a dominant team in the 2050’s that the 20 year olds will think would arse rape these Warriors. If they go on to win this year it will be their 2nd title in a row a feat only 7 teams have accomplished since 1986
