Looking at how the Celtics played defense against MJ, I can't see any possible way that they could stay within 290 of the Cavs, let alone the Warriors

would be interesting IMO. The 1996 Bulls were probably the greatest collection of defensive players on one team in league history. Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and Harper were all top-10 defenders in the league and the former three are generally considered some of the all-time best defensive players.

And the funny thing is that some keep boasting about the 'advanced athleticism' of NBA players ,but the Warriors big 4 combines results ( Durant in particular was a joke ) says otherwise. Not a particularly explosive bunch.

I don't see the universe where Jordan, Pippen ,Rodman or Grant ,Harper ,etc....are considered athletically inferior to this Warriors big 4 .

But the new ' super athlete' like Durant who couldnt bench 185lbs & out of 80 combine Prospects came in dead last in agility drills, 3rd to last in vertical & 4th to last in Court Sprint . Larry Bird laughs at those measurables .

But it's not just Lewis. Michael Johnson retired in 2000. He still owns half of the top 10 times in 400m history. His 200m record in 1996 would have easily won gold in 2016. In fact, his season best time of 19.71 in his final year as a pro still would've won gold in 2016.

This idea that we've somehow massively evolved past the athletic standards of the prior generation is fantasy. There used to be a huge improvement curve, due primarily to the fact people couldn't really devote their whole lives to training and now they can, as well as the technological breakthroughs. While tech is always improving and shaving off fractions of a seconds, the financial reward has been there since the 1980s.

This . And many of records have fallen ,but how many of these WR holders/ Olympic Champs in the past 20-25 years have been clean?

Tim Montgomery ( wr) - busted
Justin Gatlin -
Lindord Christie- busted
Asafa Powell( wr)-busted
Tyson Gay - busted
Steve Mullings- lifetime ban
Nesta Carter - Busted and cost Bolt a Gold Medal stripped
Yohan Blake and many several other Jamacians

Marion Jones never tested positive- busted-

Maurice Greene purchased stuff he claims he never used

Your new NBA is soft dude. Thats not coming from just nostalgic old timers ,but a long list of players who have played both NBA/ International ball: Kobe , George, Rubio and others have pointed out how soft the NBA has become.

More physical style doesn't necessarily mean better Spursfan , but at least accept the fact that your League is SOFT. And the Warriors aren't really these super athletes .

Listening to the nostalgics describe it, you'd think those guys from the 80s/90s had knives and brass knuckles waiting for you in the paint

Every player always says their era was the toughest to play in

You're making my point for me

And my squad has won with both suffocating defense and free-flowing offense. No skin off my nose either way when it comes to this debate

Again with the "your"

I never said they were.

They're just better at basketball than any previous NBA team.

Most NBA analysts/ experts disagree with you. They do have them in or around the top 5 however.

I've seen the great teams.

These guys are good for these rules. Several teams would have pulverized them "back in the day".

Golden state has players who are careless with the ball. The 7 turnovers in the first qtr vs cc in the loss would have also resulted in losses to
Russell's Celtics, wilts 76ers, Larry, magic.

Wilt, Larry and magic teams were really big inside.

The plus for this golden state team is the bench. Very long.
