Some of theses games will be so bad and boring that you can sleep through them. Sorry if that offends anyone but these are the state championships, the games should be competitive not so watered down that no one cares.

The majority of the games so far have been awesome.

Yesterday, 3 of the 5 games were decided by 2 points or less

They will drop back down to D4NS next season should be a little easier for her. She is a beast for sure the jersey rip off was very weird especially with knowing Mulkey was in the crowd. Westlake brings back everyone but one starter next year. The French Settlement game should be very good with all the Guard play. Freshman Laila Rousell needs to have a big game in the paint and force outside shots. Amazingly enough this is the 4th year in a row these two will have met... in '23 they met in 2nd round @ #4 Settlement... westlake upset them... in '24 they met in Quarters @ Westlake... westlake won ... in '25 they met in Quarters @ Settlement ... Westlake won on last second 3. Anticipating another hard fought game both teams have wanted this game

Texas and California each have 6.

Texas has split public and private schools for decades. The UIL governs public schools only (with the exception of Dallas Jesuit and Houston Jesuit), and has since the 1980’s.
Most private schools play in TAPPS which is the largest non-public highschool athletic association in the country.
You also have leagues like the SPC, TCAL, TCAF, and a few more.

UIL = 6 state champs
TAPPS = 6 state champs
SPC = 2 state champs
TCAF = 2 state champs
TCAL = 3 state champs

So Texas has at least 19 state champs.

they know she can play basketball… what they want to see are the intangibles, how she handles herself, etc. when it comes to a kid everyone knows

I’m marveling at how Parkview Baptist beat UHigh by 20 in the regular season. Physically, there’s no way they should be on the court in a close game with the Cubs, but there they were.

Lost a close one yesterday in rematch.

Meh. Basketball was bad enough with classes B and C but this select and non-select bullshite has to end in ALL sports.

Why are the Huntington girls playing in the select bracket? Ain’t a more public ghetto school than Hungington.

Get rid off the poony arse 12 championship games and do it for football also! Catholic and Jesuit and all the other rich bitch select schools should stop being paper champs and line up and take in west Monroe or west Jeff or Carencro or whoever! Bring back the old school two games Friday and three Saturday tradition!

Private schools didn’t want the split. I’m all for it returning to traditional model.

Nice.

I'm done in Hammond.

Last night driving back was a beast after covering the first and last game for the newspaper.

Took 3 hours to get there. Two lanes were shut down on the Miss River bridge. Sitting there watching the ETA go up in 5-minute increments while stuck in traffic was depressing.

This made me smile.

It is also nice that this is being reported on by someone who loves HS sports and can string sentences together.

It is apparent that you do not know a lot about high school girl’s basketball in Louisiana. If you did, you would know that historically, class B champions are very good and beat a high percentage of the
4 A and 5 A teams in the state.

Look at Bell City’s schedule. Look at Fairview’s schedule.

Catholic would curb stomp all those schools and every other non private school not named Karr and Ruston and maybe Ouachita and Neville

The select brackets in football are now tougher than the non select and the "rich" schools are the ones who don't want the split

So if a school is considered ghetto it doesn't matter if they have open enrollment?

I’m trying to watch the Menard/Rosepine game on LHSAA network. Can’t get it to come on. Anyone else have issues with the network?

I'm surprised that Bell City lost.

I picked them back to back years and they lost in the finals to Fairview and Pitkin.

Bell city got jobbed on that last play where the half court ref ran in and overturned that out of bounds call under the goal with 4 secs left. They should have had the ball with a chance to win.

Congrats to French settlement getting the monkey off their back. Stella Allison hit a half court shot at halftime buzzer.
