Source: Stanton from #Marlins to #Yankees is “virtually done.” Close to finish line. Hear #Marlins will get at least Starlin Castro plus good but not top prospects if completed. Again physical review can still be part of this so nothing final, but close.

bullshite

No way Miami is taking on old players with money still owed. Defeats the whole purpose.

Not if they are in the final year of their contact or so. But yeah, anything 2+ years out makes no sense.

This is going to be a CRAZY marketing blitz in NY.

Castro isn’t old.

Eta: he’s younger than Stanton.

Honestly Ozuna, Yelich, Realmuto, Castro is a nice, reasonably priced, young-ish core.

Not getting top talent for a top 5 star is pitiful.

Starlin Castro and no top prospects.

Guess ole Stanton only wanted to go to the Yankees and Jeter wanted to do them a solid. Talk about getting ripped off. Hopefully for the Marlins they dumped all the salary.

Wow and Castro is owed around 24 million over the next 2 years if you include his 1 million buyout in 2020.

Marlins going to have to trade Castro to shed his salary. Except he is projected at only 1.2 WAR next year, so he is overpaid.

I was about to say "frick this is unfair" before I realized this will likely take them out of the Harper and Machado sweepstakes next year. I'd much rather have them spend their money on Stanton than either of those two players.

They're out on Harper but they're still all the way in on Machado.

Trading Castro opens it up for Torres to be the 2nd baseman of the future. Which means 3rd base is open.

They should be considering this move. Good news is Stanton is injury prone with a weak jaw.

Gardner LF
Judge RF
Bird 1B
Stanton DH
Sanchez C
Gregorius SS
Hicks CF
Headley 3B
Torres 2B

Torres maybe switches with Gardner halfway through the season. Maybe Headley is traded too, and the Yankees let a young prospect get a look at 3rd. Will be interesting.

RIP Clint Frazier's playing time. Idk if they'll trade him, but he pretty much won't have a role this season. If they hold onto him until next season when Gardner is gone, he could have a starting role.
