2 weeks late, but we gonna kick off on September 4.

I have heard that many schools are limiting attendance to 20-25% of capacity. I have an officials meeting tomorrow night, so I'll report back on what the GHSA tells us after the meeting.

Sandy Creek had a team for the ages last year, tough loss to Max Johnson in the semi. Curious to see how they reload.

I wonder if he has ties to the area or if it's just another case of how big of a business high school sports has actually become.

It's Rush at Valdosta...ain't no stud from California moving to Valdosta for reasons other than football.

Won a state title and his firing was about
race and politics...Rush was the last man standing so he got the job.

Football rankings: 3 reigning champs No. 1; Grayson on top in 7A from AJC

quote:

By Todd Holcomb, GHSF Daily

Only three defending state football champions will start the year ranked No. 1 as reclassification will make things a bit harder on the 2019's best teams.

Cedar Grove in Class 3A, Eagle’s Landing Christian in 1A Private and Irwin County in 1A Public are the reigning champs that return as No. 1 in the preseason Atlanta Journal-Constitution rankings. Each returns a good core of its 2019 starters.

Cedar Grove has won three of the past four state titles in 3A. ELCA has won a state-record five straight, Irwin has four preseason all-state players back from the ’19 team that won its first state title since 1975.

“This team has all the tools to be special,” Irwin County coach Casey Soliday said. “It could be as good as last year.”

In 7A, Grayson is No. 1 while defending champion Marietta is No. 8. Grayson, which defeated Marietta in the 2019 regular season before reaching the state quarterfinals, has five preseason all-state players.

Marietta graduated eight players who signed with Power Five conference teams, including, including Gatorade national player of the year Arik Gilbert. Lowndes, the 2019 runner-up, is ranked No. 2. That doesn’t mean Marietta and other rebuilding 2019 champions won’t still be factors. ...

Im sure their pounding the pavement all over metro ATL to "add" a few more players.I heard their Jr and Soph classes are loaded.

Grayson is probably just as bad when it comes to out of district players from what
I understand.

Alabama, Tennessee, and Arkansas were playing real games last week. Texas and Mississippi were playing scrimmage games. Ohio and Pennsylvania played real games too.

This is what we're getting in Louisiana...

Spoke to a very close friend and D1 college coach recently. When I called, he was looking at game tape of '21 recruits that had already played games. I asked if he thought not starting until Oct or later would hurt the La '21 kids in recruiting. "Absolutely we may be full by then"

@CoachRobertValThis high school football game has me a bit on edge right now. I know the Wildcats would be out here flying around ballin’. Beautiful Downtown Vacherie would be rockin’ and The Wildcat Nation would be lit.

Every state that touches Louisiana is playing football. Every state that touches those states are playing football! What are we doing? LET US PLAY!

This coach replied to his own tweet with more info each time. It's worth reading:

This thread is intended to give a logical chain of information that should point to football being played right now. This isn't a criticism or intended to be negative. (1/10)

The media got into too:

@JacquesDoucet
Hearing from the parents of many Louisiana high school football players who are struggling badly to see other states playing games without a problem.

"We should be playing tonight. These seniors cannot get this time back! It's TERRIBLE."

and we got this...[/b]

Yeah it is ridiculous that LA isn’t playing. It’s also ridiculous that LA isn’t completely open.
