FSU wins, gets the 4 seed.
The spread for the semi finals game is what? FSU +18 vs Georgia

UGA could pretty much name their score against FSU without Travis.
I’m not even sure they’d play or need Bowers or McConkey to do it.

Well I just heard the chief editor of War Chant on Sirius XM and he said he’s good to go

This reminds me of the Kenyon Martin situation heading into the NCAA Tournament. That Cincinnati team was a likely #1 seed and legitimate National Championship contender until Martin, the national POY, breaks his leg in the (for Cincinnati) meaningless CUSA tournament. Cincinnati gets a #2 seed, but everyone knew they weren't going to be able to do much without Martin. They didn't. Losing in the 2nd round.
I'm not saying FSU was no doubt going to win the NC. But I think they had more "dudes" than anyone from the Pac 12 and Texas to compete with Georgia, Alabama, Michigan.
If they win tomorrow they will deserve to be in the CFP. But everyone knows they really won't be able to compete with whoever they get matched up with.

Great qb name
Didn't like FSU's chances with QB2

Watch them win by 3+ TDs and the committee say "Well... even though they dominated w/a 3rd stringer and they'll have their backup back for the playoff we just think ALABAMA is a better team."
Do you disagree or would you bet the FSU moneyline in a game tomorrow against Alabama?
they should win by 3 touchdowns, Louisville is 6 days removed from losing at home to Kentucky, a team that got fricking blasted in Lexington by Alabama

Keep Alabama out at all costs is all you had to say.
No one would bat an eye on here if Oregon was 3 and FSU was 4 on Sunday, thus is the juxtaposition of this board

So what, Ohio St won a natty with their 3rd string QB

As a Texas fan, if we were in FSU’s shoes, I’d be Uber pissed if the committee left us out after having gone undefeated, winning the conference and ranked ahead of Bama and Texas going into the weekend.
Will be rooting hard for Louisville of course but understand if FSU gets the nod.

If FSU wins and Oregon wins, FSU should be 3. They are an undefeated power 5 team, and precedent says this late in the season if you're an undefeated power 5 you're ranked above a team with a loss.
What would be ridiculously stupid is the committee dropping FSU to 4 because their QB is hurt, and then leaving Texas out. If you're considering the injury (which you should be) FSU HAS to drop.

It always amazes me how folks who obsess over college football will post nonsense like this believing they have a good point.

The point is that Louisville isn’t a very good football team and FSU is, per the committee, one of the best 4 teams in the country. Louisville’s doesn’t have much actual talent
Posted on 12/1/23 at 10:38 am to Riseupfromtherubble
Louisville is scoring 30+ a game.
Can FSU score 25-30 with a backup?
Florida isn’t good.

They're only 2 spots behind Washington in talent composite

As a college football fan, a sports fan, and fan of just fairness in general, I will be pissed if FSU wins and gets left out due to Travis’s injury. And it has nothing to do with hoping Bama or any other particular team gets left out. It’d be the narcissism, hubris, lack of self-awareness, etc…or the committee thinking they should be in the business of deciding who’s “best” over who who is the most “deserving,” that their “eyeball test” trumps actual wins and losses.
If we’re just going by “best,” then just let Vegas decide the top 4 teams. Those dudes are infinitely better at that than any 20-person committee that could be put together. But even Vegas doesn’t know who’s “best,” as we see upsets every year, hell, every weekend. You’ve got to give Florida State’s QB the chance to pull a ‘14 Cardale Jones or ‘90 Jeff Hostettler. You can’t punish the entire team of 85 scholarship players based on the injury to 1 player. It was bullshite when they did it to Cincinnati with Martin and he was 1 of 5, it would be even bigger bullshite to do it to FSU.
I mean, this is dark and I am only using it as extreme hyperbole to underscore my point, but if Florida State beats Louisville and the team plane goes down on the way back to Tallahassee and (I’ll try to not go too dark) the entire team breaks their legs and are out for 6 months, I think Florida State should be able to pick a bunch of walk-ons out of the student body to be able to represent the university in the playoffs. That’s how little I think injuries should be a factor.
That said, as a fan of college football, if FSU’s QB does suck, I hope they do go ahead and lose to Louisville and take themselves out. Not to get the committee off the hook, but just for a more competitive playoff. We’ve seen too many non-competitive semi final games already.

You were way ahead of this mate and I was able to hedge off my FSU bets fairly painlessly last night thanks to you

Apparently FSU's third stringer is actually going to school.
