It’s incredible what these coaches get paid only to be fired in a few years. If these were public companies, they’d be sued for mismanagement.
Blame the A.D’s that give these ridiculous buyouts.
Remember when LSU hired O, they gave him a huge buyout when no one was even looking to hire him.
Need to investigate the link between A.D’s and coaching agents to see what the connection is

O didn’t get a big contract and buyout until after he won a national title. No one one was trying to hire him so it was dumb but at least O somewhat earned a big raise
Norvell got one because FSU was paranoid Alabama was trying to hire him when Saban retired…and he responded by going 2-10

I have a feeling it’s gonna be Jimbo on a sweetheart deal which sucks. Wanted Dickert from Wake Forest.

I know those guys don’t think of it this way and I know that being publicly fired when you still live in said town and one of the most recognizable members of the town has its own issues.
BUT.
Can you imagine the feeling of simultaneously knowing you will be paid $40-50 million dollars and go from an EXTREMELY high stress visible non stop job to……nothing?
Has to be simultaneously one of the best days and worst days of his life.

Did the playoff committee kill FSU's football program by telling everyone on earth that even if they go undefeated, they aren't good enough for us to consider them a championship caliber team?
It may have been unfair due to their perfect record, but had they made a statement with good QB play from the backup (i.e 2014 Ohio State), they likely get in. Instead, they looked unimpressive against subpar competition late.

Can literally pay him $1 because his tamu buyout is not offsetting.
Take every other cent and throw it towards NIL

Heard they were too poor to fire him. Guess they weren’t.
He just went from having the 2nd best gig in the world (college football coach) to best gig in the world (fired college football coach)

No. They gave him a huge buyout on his first when there was zero market for him.

Under the terms of Ed Orgeron’s first permanent contract with LSU—signed in late November 2016—his buyout if fired without cause started at $12 million.
quote:
LSU fans are already calling for change at the head coaching spot despite it only being Ed Orgeron's first full year at the helm. After a huge upset loss at home to Troy, there were fans who already started a GoFundMe to buy out his contract. However, that might be the worst option the program has available considering it's a hefty $12 million buyout among other things.
quote:
Besides, the stigma that would come with getting rid of a guy after a year and paying the second-highest buyout in college football history —- Charlie Weis tops the list at almost $19 million —- wouldn't attract other coaches to try and turn them around. LSU's best bet is to give Orgeron the opportunity to go through the ups and down of an entire season as head coach and learn from his mistakes.

How does a guy that is 23-30 in conference play have a $51M buyout?
