Buxton can eat a bag of dicks. Not for this complaining, but just in general.
Had Checo not had to start from the pit, Max wins. The 2v1 put Max in a tough spot and gave some more options to Merc. Both Max and Hamilton drove their asses off. As Max said, he's happy he can compete. Should be a good season.

post race driver interviews.
Some gamesmanship, but I think Hamilton and Bottas know they have a slower car.

Fantastic first race. It's like like there can be real battles for first and second and third and fourth in the team championship.
I had no problem with Verstappen having to give the place back but Red Bull could and should have slow played it a bit . The place they gave it back gave Hamilton the advantage he needed to win the race,

Tsunoda is catching up to Stroll. Chance for another point.
Interesting that his tire strategy ended up looking just like hamilton's.

Perez was impressive during the race, so possibly even a fight for the WCC.
Perez doesn't start from last and it might have been a better race for RB.

Yep. Max lost way too much time when he gave it back.
Posted on 3/28/21 at 1:59 pm to VABuckeye
The way Max was talking it seems that giving the place back at an advantageous position might not be allowed.

Great start to the season. It looks like RB is ready to fight Merc for the CC. If not for bad luck for Checo, he could have provided more help to Max.

As quoted by Autosport, Alpine executive director Marcin Budkowski said: “After his first stop we had a small issue that forced us to reduce the performance of the car, then after the second stop, a sandwich wrap paper got stuck inside the rear brake duct of Fernando’s car.
And there I thought this would happen to Vettel

Sucks we are three weeks away from Imola. The condensed season last year led to sweet story lines.
Wonder if they spread out the season and added races in hopes that some circuits loosen up covid restrictions at some point and fans can start sitting in the bleachers.
I can't imagine Austria, with RB making a run for WCC, not allowing fans after this weeks performance. Would be a travesty to not see this...

shite... wait and see if Zandvoort will allow fans... that will be a fricking sight to see
Posted on 3/29/21 at 1:19 pm to TheArrogantCorndog
Something tells me they will only be allowing citizens to attend.

Late to this thread. Ive read a few pages back but didnt see answers. Perhaps you guys/gals can answer:
1) Did we find out/they publicly release cause of Perez's power failure?
2) Did RB discuss data and analysis of Perez coming through the field (and dirty air) vs trying to get VER around HAM at end. Perez's experience had to be useful to VER strategy in real time right?
3) After race 1, what is the consensus of new rules impact to high rake vs low rake cars going forward in 2021?

An entire sea of nothing but Verstappen fans

1) never heard, seems like it could have been driver error though.
2) think Max just had a better car and fresher tires in the end. Not sure how much info can be shared realtime on aero type stuff
3) yes, the low rake cars took a much bigger hit than high rake cars. That was the point of the reg changes though. Teams that dominate can expect to have their advatages mitigated by rule changes.

I fully expect Merc to figure it out in the next few races... Team Aston Martin Force Stroll Green Pink Merc is gonna struggle I think
Posted on 3/29/21 at 1:35 pm to TheArrogantCorndog
I think Merc has some ideas on what to do and feel good about their WCC chances still. Toto knows that it will take development time from next year though.
Aston Martin is going to be lost.
Sucks for Merc that this aero change came when limited development is being allowed for the year.
