I expect Russel to do great in Qualy but choke during the race just like he does with Williams. Crashing into a barrier during a safety car while in 10th is Grosjean like.

I hope he continues his streak of out qualifying his teammate.

On another note, doesn’t Russia make a big deal about having at least one Russian F1 driver? If so, since Mazepin will be driving for Haas does that mean Kvyat will get the boot at AT, have Albon replace him and Checo get the seat at RB?

It’s rumored that PG10 would leave for Alpine the next chance he gets and that would open an AT seat for Tsunoda in 2022 if RB cares about keeping Honda pleased.

I love the speculation side of F1.

I've always assumed if he get's his super license it would be Gasly/Tsunoda at AT in 2021. With it seeming like RB wants to keep Albon I fear Perez may be out of a seat next season.

I’m torn about this, I want Albon at RB BUT, I want to see him drive well and not finish in a tight race for 11th. Glad that he got his 2nd podium, but Albon was never a threat to Perez this past weekend.

Regardless, so happy for a race without Hamilton. He is just so damn dominant in that Merc. It takes some fun away from the race watching.

Interesting... was expecting Valtteri to be favored

I don't think RB cares much about Honda after 2021

I don't think Perez is a RB driver. Doesn't fit their mold and might be considered on the downside if his career.

I also think they are committed to Albon for some reason. Maybe they want someone to be competitive without actually challenging Max, ala the Hamilton/Merc theory.

Why would they care about keeping Honda pleased?

Schumacher and Mazepin on an Amarican team in F1 sounds so cool to me.

I want to listen to live Merc Team / Russell radio during the race. Is this possible?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you can do so if you have the F1 app subscription.

I think F1 TV has the live radios, but I've always been too cheap to subscribe, so I don't know that for sure. I should have picked it up earlier this year when it was $30 instead of $80, but again, I'm cheap.

Autoweek Article on Honda / RB

Honda has agreed to allow RB to use it’s IP, but I haven’t yet read of a formal contract in place. If the engine freeze is allowed, I assume that In order to make a smooth and efficient transition, RB needs to stay in good graces with Honda for their knowledge and potential technical support.
