Ohio State's bad offensive play calling worked for UM. Which Chip Kelly admitted to and learned from.

As far as I’m aware, he has a great relationship with both. He doesn’t hate OSU, any more than it’s probably annoying to live in Columbus when you’re not a Buckeye fan/alum and your brother-in-law is one of the greatest players in the history of the program (and beat you head-to-head).

He’s also right. ND will try to control clock, get into 2nd-and-7, 3rd-and-3, etc., not make any catastrophic mistakes, not give up big plays and try to force a couple turnovers. But that’s not exactly rocket science that that’s the game plan.

Their other brother in law is Jack Johnson (hockey, not singer).

Holidays have to be lit.

I like Leonard. I think that he has the right stuff to pull off a big upset like this.
Jeremiyah Love is a stud, but they really need to feed him. I think he's banged up though. Their defense is disciplined.

Unlikely to happen, but it wouldn't shock me.

If the defense was healthy, I wouldn't mind our chances. Down Mills, Traore, Botelho, and a banged up Cross doesn't make me feel good. Two highly-ranked freshman studs who have emerged late in the year (Young - the kid who had the double roughing the punter penalties against UGA - and Viliamu-Asa who is himself just coming back from injury) on the edge have mitigated the blow a fair bit, but I just keep coming back to OSU's offensive line that's starting to look like it is finally playing cohesively.

To that tune, if Morrison weren't out for the year, we'd really be cooking. He pretty much shut down Marvin Harrison Jr. last year. Trio of Morrison, Moore, and Gray + Watts and Shuler in the back would be one of the better secondaries in all of college football in recent years. As it is without Morrison, they're a damn tough out (and Moore in particular is probably himself a future 1st rounder as Morrison is), but Smith / Egbuka / Tate is the best WR combo in college football since the 2020 Alabama team.

One thing that I do think we have going for us is that we played most of these same guys in a dogfight last year that took some dick-tripping and 10 men on the field on defense to piss away the game in the last minute. They've added Seth McLaughlin, Caleb Downs, Quinshon Judkins, and Jeremiah Smith, but we saw most of those guys fifteen months ago.

Will Howard > Kyle McCord

And Day turning over play calling is a definite net positive.

It'll be interesting if ND can play press man, single high safety as they've done most of the year. And they need the sto the run like they did in the 2nd half vs Penn St rather than the gashing that occured in the first.

He's using imagery, but he's not wrong.

ND's best bet to win is to make this game a brawl so-to-speak and attempt to win ugly b/c they can't keep up w/Ohio State offensively.

Notre Dame isn't playing Iowa.

Easy to muck up a game where talent is lacking, not so easy where you're playing the most talented team you've seen by far all year. Notre Dame would have to pull off a 1987 Fiesta Bowl.

Jeremiah Smith would like that.

ND needs to take a page out of Texas's book and play 2-high and roll one of those safeties over the top to bracket Smith and keep him in check.

Only problem with that is I am not sure if Notre Dame's offense will be able to cross the 50 yard line.

I bet you said the same thing about the Michigan game this year

Notre Dame doesn't even have a 2024-2025 men's swim team. They were betting on female teammates crying after a race

I actually think why BK left ND will show in this game. Freeman can win playoff games, but the one that matters... I dont think ND has the roster to compete with OSU.

I say this as a BK hater

It probably depends on how well Gray, Clark (our main nickel - Ryan Clark's son who transferred in from ASU - he's really played well the latter half of the year), and Shuler hold up against Egbuka, Tate, and Scott / Kacmarek. Egbuka was a bit of a killer against us last year.

If I had to guess, we'll mostly take our chances with Moore against Smith on the outside with Watts playing center field. That'll be a fascinating matchup - the best freshman (and maybe best overall) WR in the country against what I think is the best freshman corner in the country. I don't think this'll be the last time they see each other.

I don't know - we are better man for man back there than Texas is (and our LB's are pretty damn capable in coverage as well). It'll probably depend on how much we are getting home with 4 and 5.

If I had to guess, Kelly is going to want to get your RB's out in space a lot. Penn State had success doing that even when we had shut down the sideline and downfield passing game, and Henderson and Judkins are a haul.

And the Quinn sister that Johnson’s married to was an All-American soccer player.

The Quinn/Sacramone, Hawk/Quinn, Johnson/Quinn kids should all be an athletic group of cousins.

I mean I am shocked that one of the biggest media faces of Notre Dame didn't come out and say he thinks OSU is going to dominate them. SHOCKED!

I remember talking to players and how he was cocky going into the Sugar Bowl. He just can’t help talking without backing it up.
