Do you know the collective opponent record of Bama's opponents this year? Of Texas? Of Michigan? of Georgia?
Go look all of those up and get back to me.

Nope. That is not the criteria. Those 4 played SIGNIFICANTLY better competition to get where they are. FSU is the ONLY team of the TOP 6 to play a combined sub .500 record. If you beat up on weaker competition, your 13-0 just means less. It's not as impressive.

Every time it expands you exponentially increase the number of teams with a case to be in. But it will be a made for TV event and people will lap it up.
Only due to the refusal to actually have set criteria for playoff participation.
How many teams who don't get in have a case to be in the NFL playoffs. None.
How many teams who don't get in have a case to be in the NBA playoffs. None. Rinse and repeat. Those leagues all have specific criteria on how teams earn their spot in the post-season.
The playoff selection committee has no set requirements by design. It allows them to pick and choose as needed. No problem putting Ohio State in the playoff with their 3rd string QB starting. "Oh, but he played well." No problem putting Bama or Ohio State in without winning their conference. "They're clearly one of the best four teams."

This is a media national championship, not a NCAA national championship, that’s owned by ESPN and the conferences.
This controversy was intentionally created to sell their product and their new investment as they roll out the SEC 2024 contract. It’s all about maximizing viewership. Here is the number of games by conference that had 4MM or more viewers this year:
They weren’t going to leave the SEC out and potentially take a hit in viewership. Instead they create controversy and bring in more viewers that will now watch in hope to see AL gets their arse kicked. AL was in four of the top 25 viewed games this year which included their game against South FL.
Follow the money and it will explain the decision making process.

It is why it is good that we move to a 12-team playoff next year.
Playoff expansion with a selection committee is insanity and the mouth breathers who continually yell for it have zero common sense. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Nope. Texas is only in because they had to be in order to include Alabama. If Georgia had won the 4 undefeated teams would have been in, even though Alabama with two losses would still be “one of the best four”.
Really illustrates the ridiculousness of their rationale. A field goal makes them one of the top four (which by default makes Texas top 4) and leave FSU out despite winning out. But it makes Georgia not top 4. So Georgia losing by 3 to a “top 4” makes them not top 4 but Texas losing to unranked OU makes them top 4 because they’ve gotta be because they thumped a “top 4” Bama at home. But FSUs qb broke his leg so the fact they were top 4 last week and won a conf championship with a third string qb means now they’re not because saban.

Gumps played one non cupcake out of conference game and what happened?
They lost at home by two scores.
FSU had the guts to schedule two SEC teams. You folks are falling in line with the Gump insanity. FSU proudly played P5 non conference teams, Alabama is crying about scheduling Texas.

Wayne, that was my original point. It is bigger than FSU. It is hard to have consistency with 5 Conferences and only 4 spots. Leaves it open for interpretation. NFL, NBA, and pro sports all have clearly defined leagues that stay the same year in, year out. We are seeing conference realignment every couple of years now. Then, teams jumping up from or going down to FCS.
With the Pac 12 dead now, that helps. Do you now say the 4 major conferences deserve to be in over the Group of 5 conferences? The portal is definitely changing things. Not sure how much it is leveling the field, though. It is crazy to see 10+ from teams like Oklahoma, Ohio St, and others going into the portal. If these smaller schools can offer decent NIL deals and playing time, we could see some Group of 5 schools rise up and become steady players. I am watching Liberty, Tulane, SMU, etc who have had recent sustained success. The problem is that these schools eventually have then realigned to the P5 conferences. You don't have this problem in the pros.

Not really. One is undefeated, two arent, and the two with losses get in.
This was done solely for ratings.

Michigan’s SOS is 51
And they struggled mightily to put up 12 offensive points on #18 Iowa WITH their starting QB…

They really lost two, if not for back to back miracles from above.

LOL! I guess it’s too early. They are not getting your point. Still too angry, and I understand it. I am too.

#3 Texas is a cupcake game? ?????? Interesting thought process.
FSU scheduled 2 SEC teams, yes. Kudos to them. You do recognize that Alabama and Georgia played an ENTIRE schedule of SEC teams, right? I commend FSU for doing so, and unfortunately for them LSU only went 9-3 because we had NO defense and UF was 5-7. That is ONLY 2 games. That is because their own conference SUCKS! Take out LSU and UF, and their combined opponents 63-69. It doesn't help your argument, my friend.

The roll up win/loss of opponents is a very poor metric to hang your hat on and that meme going around with the comparison was created to entertain idiots who don’t understand football.
FSU played 5-7 Florida
Bama played 8-5 UT Chattanooga
Florida is far better that UTC. There are lots more examples…

Ahhhh...the revealing of your intelligence level. Sad that you even have LSU behind your name. Your ignorance is a sad representative of a great university.

Absolutely! Thank you for pointing that out! It is why I have been saying there is a great argument for Georgia being in over Michigan.
To have Michigan at #1 is insane! But, it's what they did.

You haven’t looked at or mentioned “WHY” Washington is in. Who’d they play that was so tough. Looking past the fake ranking given a number of western teams
