Member when people argued with me in this board that NIL “is NOT pay for play!!!!”?

I member

In a separate argument, since we are just blatantly paying players now, where is the “equal” 50,000 per softball player for UT to even things out ala Title IX?

I was talking to a secretary in my office who was upset that Michigan State scrapped swimming and diving, but pays Mel Tucker $9.5 million. I said, well, find a big donor who likes swimming.

Friggin sportswriters man.

*gasp* the big schools are paying big money and it’s going to make the haves and have nots worse oh no!

Anyone with a brain could have told you that NIL and open transfers would do this

Yet they all screamed for it and wrote sob stories to shape the narrative.

Yet assholes on this site were saying the same things.

“You don’t understand it. It’s NOT pay for play. This is long overdue. “

I think I may prefer CFB just implement a salary cap and go full minor league.

NIL seems like a mess that stands to have donors exclusively “donating” to players instead of donating to worthy university causes.

now that NIL is here, a salary cap isn't going to put an end to players getting paid by third parties to the highest bidder. If they wanted to have a conversation about paying players salaries through the school, that time has come and gone

NIL + Transfer Portal is the biggest thing. It helps them secure the bag not once, but twice.

Not sure what you are laughing at. Horns with Hearts or whatever that is in Austin isn’t looking for a return. Except for a return of Ws.

It's just sour grapes. This stuff is the norm in the SEC, yet no one is crying about Georgia or Texas A&M's ROI on purchased players.

But if it works, you don't think all other schools will be following suit?

It isn’t a level playing field. So if Texas ends up revitalizing it’s program thanks to NIL, I’ll laugh in any Texas fans face who brags about it. It’s pathetic.

And they'll just say "Scoreboard".

Saw him plenty in HS, and there were better QBs in the Dallas area alone.

Obviously the recruiting services are not perfect, but he is only the second QB to be given a perfect 1.000 rating.

There are better QB's in his own conference/city? Find that hard to believe.

While opening name, image and likeness opportunities to student-athletes, the policy in all three divisions preserves the commitment to avoid pay-for-play and improper inducements tied to choosing to attend a particular school. Those rules remain in effect.

"The new policy preserves the fact college sports are not pay-for-play," said Division II Presidents Council chair Sandra Jordan, chancellor at the University of South Carolina Aiken. "It also reinforces key principles of fairness and integrity across the NCAA and maintains rules prohibiting improper recruiting inducements. It's important any new rules maintain these principles."

Guess the NCAA will just ignore this
