Thats not the idea I got from everything leading up to this sentence.

"I know you must think this is all very unfair. Maybe that's an understatement. What you don't know is I agree. I wish the world was a place where fair was the bottom line, where the kind of idealism you showed at the hearing was rewarded, not taken advantage of. Unfortunately, we don't live in that world." - Contact

So I just saw the the headline in question for the first time since every time I read about it they wouldn't mention. He can't possibly say this was an honest mistake.

Whitlock didn't get fired for two reasons:
1. He's the biggest writer they have(not fat wise). If Bill Simmons said what this Federico dude did ESPN wouldn't have fired him.
2. They're a lot smaller than ESPN so they don't have to be as concerned with their image. If you don't look at sports blogs you probably didn't know Whitlock even said that because no one cares much about FoxSports.com/Whitlock.

That's all well and good, but regardless of profession, you screw up and you'll get the ax.

I'm not in the business of reading the minds of people, particularly those I've never met or know anything about.

Yeah I didn't know what the fuss was about until I read the headline a few minutes ago. He deserved to get fired.

Can't make that mistake..especially when I have TE chance to review it and look it over.

I'm not sure how what he's saying is relevant.
I think his point is that maybe it's incredibly stupid to judge someone because you perceive them as a racist over some very mild racial innuendo/humor

I don't think the guy's racist. I would fire him and the person who makes the final call before posting it for being incompetent though. You can't be that careless in such an important position.

It was probably an honest mistake, but a mistake it was, and that's all that matters. Good luck to him in the future.

He's sure using it for his glory now...

What about the guy that reads his copy BEFORE he goes on the air? Do ya'll think the mother ship allows these guys to go on air and say things without them knowing before hand what they intend to say?

IDGAF if ESPN's Connecticut head quarters burns in a fire, they keep hiring pedos, wife beaters and racists till the cows come home...NBCSports bruh...

Posted on 2/22/12 at 7:51 pm to LSUCanFAN
What has that to do with what I posted?
