They would see that on the day of the incident I got a call from a friend – who happens to be homeless – and rushed to his aid. He was collapsed on the side of the road due to exposure and hunger. They would see how I picked him up and got him a hotel room and fed him.
They would see I used my vacation time last year to volunteer in the orphanages of Haiti. They would see how I ‘adopted’ an elderly Alzheimer’s patient and visited him every week for a year. They would see that every winter I organize a coat drive for those less fortunate in New Haven. They would see how I raised $10,000 for a friend in need when his kids were born four months premature. They would see how I have worked in soup kitchens and convalescent homes since I was a kid. They would see my actions speak louder than my words. They would see that these acts were not done for my glory, but for God’s. They would see that each day I live and will continue to live a life of joy and service.

I'm not sure how what he's saying is relevant.

I didnt think he should be fired before that

Sounds like a crazy man.

What he's saying is that it was a honest mistake and that his boss or editor should have seen this and didn't and that he was a scape goat to get people off their backs.

They would see that I carefully tabulate all of my good deeds and expect to receive some kind of immunity for them.

If all that shite is true I don't think he should be fired. I still think he knew what he was doing writing the headline, but only at a subliminal level.

His point would have been stronger if it werent him that wrote it but i agree the whole situation is all just PC bullshite though

Sounds like a good dude.

Don't think he did it on purpose, but people get fired from their jobs for incompetence every day and that's what happened here.
This guy's mistake has cost ESPN probably hundreds of manhours in terms of damage control and PR spin, not mention loss of goodwill towards the company.

It still amazes me that this guy gets fired for this but Fox didn't really do anything to Jason Whitlock for his stereotyping tweet.

you honestly don't think he wrote that on purpose? I didn't even think it was a big deal but I don't believe for a second that he didn't realize what he was writing

He should have been fired for being a pompous arrogant braggart

And this is the bottom line.

Glad to see that now that he's out of ESPN's shadow he can give glory to God publicly.

I'm not in the business of reading the minds of people, particularly those I've never met or know anything about.
Regardless, either way I'm fine with ESPN firing him. He is either racist, or incompetent
