The audience for the NFL's opening slate of Sunday games suffered small declines from a year ago, with Fox's two games improving and CBS and NBC taking hits.

The four broadcast windows — an afternoon doubleheader on Fox, CBS' single afternoon game and NBC's primetime Sunday Night Football — averaged a combined 71.91 million viewers. That's off a scant 3 percent from the same figure for 2019's opening Sunday (74.13 million).

Not bad during this climate. They'll be fine, much to the chagrin of the MSB

Sounds like the NFL listened to the rumbles

They went light on the SJW shite on Thursday and even lighter on Sunday. And were more or less rewarded for giving people football with minimal bullshite.

Fox = Brady vs Brees
NBC had the Cowboys

Imagine if Saints vs Bucs and the Cowboys has been at 1 pm.

Saints / Bucs bailed them out bigly with the Tompa Bay curiosity factor. Will be down double digits from here on out.

So, Sunday added with Thursday has the nfl down about 5% from last year

Would assume the number will settle at about 6-8% when monday is added

You seem really obsessed with nfl tv ratings the last few days. What an odd thing.

To be fair, telling people on the internet that you're not watching the games is much easier than not watching the games.

Considering that:

1) more people are at home with nothing to do
2) are not out at bars as much to watch games
3) fans who would be in the stands are not and are at home instead...

Any ratings decline is bad. Given those factors, ratings should be up, BIG.

My mom is still angry about the Packers charity giving a grant to Planned Parenthood back in 2019 (for something completely unrelated to abortions). That's why she's resisting watching (but still does).
